Well, to be fair, he's a Global Moderator, not a Staffer. Though he calls it "his old position", the two are incomparably different. The Gmoo position is basically a freelance moderator position - for it, you don't need to have a huge specialisation or anything.

To any of the admins, can you please come online on MSN or Steam or anything?

I used staff as a collective noun for the moderation team. But even so, the fact is he is too inactive to be a useful moderator, and does not have a specialisation to make up for it. As Nem mentioned, he did some graphical work. I know Codecat also did some amount of coding. The only thing I'd say Nuker could provide is writing, but that really isn't useful in this sort of environment.

I'm not trying to be anal or anything, Nuker was a good moderator back when he was active, but that time is long gone. There are others here who are easily more suitable for the job.

Fallout Studios remains one of the most unbiased places that can be found online.

I could clearly see the irony now, because of that post you made, sir and what is happening right now.
Seriously, where's the L.O.V.E. right now?

I came to this thread to congratulate the newly promoted members and to salute the retiring mods for their hard work and contributions and I see backstabbing. As for an ordinary member like me, I could also say that CodeCat's activity in his duties is small, but even then demoting him without hearing the side of his story or giving an advice to participate more in his job is just, so wrong. It's even worse than the bias that happened here, when SWR left (in my perspective). What's worse you (AJ of all the people I know, how could you do this thing?) attempted to block CodeCat's freedom of speech. There is no aggresiveness or inflammatory of whatsoever in defending oneself against an unjustly demoting punishment.

@AJ: Oh and after checking the dictionary twice and taking a look in Stinger's post, he should never be ashamed of what he did, because he is right. He shouldn't be banned for it, just because he banned you there. Are you representing the act of guilt AJ? Also, haven't you forgotten that CodeCat tried to defend you also for what he believes an unjustly cruel banning punishment there? So...where's the respect now? And where's the so called unity and making the forum a better place?

For now I think I would be clearly be misunderstood by others and so I shall not participate here, until everything's clear...
EDIT: It seems I can not simply do what I just stated above...

This smacks of a coup d'etat. Forced removal of a leader and an attempt to airbrush it with rhetorical spin doctoring.

CodeCat's version of events are at a polar opposite with AJ's.

Thus, as of this moment, after well over 5 years of serving this community, CodeCat has been asked to relinquish his position. It was with great difficulty that we reached this decision, but it has been made aware to some of you that Code's position has occasionally caused rifts amongst the community and with other communities. With this decision, we feel that we can continue with our community as before, and allow Code a much needed rest.

Compare AJ's above statement with CodeCat's below:

 CodeCat, on 7 Jul 2010, 1:36, said:

However, I never got that chance, and this is what makes me very angry right now. Instead of asking that I step down as administrator, I was forcibly demoted. Only after the fact did they explain why. Firstly what gets me here is that they did not trust me enough to expect me to step down on my own. This was a big blow to me. But secondly, the reasons they have given me for my forced resignations are based on, in my view, conjecture and hearsay.

Someone is lying.

Who do you trust?

You know what? It's 8:00am in the morning, and I've already been put in a lovely foul mood. I shall be posting properly, later, when I come home from work. Until then just let me express my utmost disgust at what you have said here Stinger. Were I a lesser man, I would happily inflict a like-for-like ban on you here as you did for me on SWR, because all you've done is be incredibly foul-natured, and desperately attempted to undermine my, and the other admins' position. You should be ashamed of yourself, and know better.

@ Everyone else - Cool your fucking horses.

I should be ashamed of myself? Why should I be ashamed of myself when I'm simply stating my opinion (in the opening sentence with regards to what I think is going on) and the facts (when comparing your statement "asked to relinquish" to CodeCat's "I was forcibly removed").

If CodeCat was "made Gold" and had his posts set to Moderator Preview then I think an attempt was made to silence him (for whatever reason). Perhaps it was to prevent him from speaking the truth? What was the reason for this, I wonder?

What's worse, if this is indeed all true - and I have no reason to doubt it based on everything I have seen - then someone planned this entire thing. There is a mastermind at work. Things are as they are because a train of thought was set in motion. I doubt all the Admins simply came to the same conclusion one day to make CodeCat a Gold Member and set his posting permissions to Moderator Preview.

Retry1 also makes a good point about the decision to downsize the Admin Team after having promoted someone else the previous day. This is a contradictory statement and beggars belief.

Guys, I think you should all read http://forum.fallout...showtopic=36051 and formulate your own conclusions.

More specifically: http://forum.falloutstudios.net/index.php?...st&p=787893

It would appear that you have been lied to.

Interesting, to say the least.
Firstly, if you lot are going to do this, have some mutual respect for each other.
Currently you're throwing knives and talking with forked tounges.
Then, a brief, simple and easy to understand post listing your view.

At the moment, you lot are dogs clawing at each others throats for dominance.
The administration is in dissrray to everyone around you, whereas you should be serving as a beacon of maturity, and way to act.
Instead the only posts in here add oxygen to the flame.

And now, seeing your post, half the member base has gone and followed your act. Indeed, the post above me (Kris) is an example of this.
He immediately has gone to a polar opposite of the argument, and started spewing trash talk of the opposing side. "shitty decision"

The most unbiased post here, I see, is Rai's.
He's 14. Currently, he's making a mockery of your maturity, ability to argue and respect.

Oh, and Stinger. Please. What else have you come here to do, rather than bait people?
There was once a time where I held respect for you, and when you showed others respect.
I see that has passed.

You may claim to be opening everyone's eyes, but, really. You're simple pointing out the obvious, with a mocking tone.
You almost did, didn't you?

I have not come here to "bait" as you accuse me. I was already posting here a few days ago before all of this so it's not like I came here "to bait".

Cheers.

While I agree that what happened to Code is a real travesty.

This bitter talk has gone far enough no?

Let's just let AJ apologize for what he's done, and put all of this to rest.

Afterall, we're in the middle of merging the community are we not?

Well, to finish it here properly:
@ Nuker: cheers on your promotion mate, you earned it.
@ Codecat: lets just say it, there are better places in the world right now.
@ some of the admins: you've lost my trust and confidence in the current administration, good job. Now I see what some of the SWR members mean.
@ all others: have a good day lads, because you won't likely see me back here in this sinking ship.

@Golan: No, but judging by the past, next week nobody will remember, in 2 weeks someone brings it up again, and then it dies off completely until in 2 years it will be cited in the Funny Quotes topic.

@Dutchy:I sort of agree, but Hobbes for example, at least recognises the fact that the admins fucked up big time, how about the rest? AJ seems to be convinced that it was right, but "a hard decision", and the others didn't really say much yet.

not just a simple "I'm sorry", but that's beside the point.

The point is, we are allowing this one thing to wreck the whole community. People make mistakes.

AJ made a mistake. Make him fix it and move on.

We ALL have something better to do than this.

Are you mad? How can we "move on" if the bosses of this place just decided to nuke each other? How can you lot be so fucking egoistic to think you just have to shut up about anything that's amiss and the place will be back to its former glory?

It's not really strange at all.

In "crisis situations" like these you will find that only a select few will communicate. This is to avoid one contradicting the other in the "heat of the moment".
