A question

It was only a matter of time before this came up.
He's been banned because he evaded a ban in the IRC and admitted to trolling during a conversation. He was already on 66% warning level and therefore the next step was a ban.

I've seen the IRC logs and am fully opposed to this decision, but whatever.
I'm still not entirely sure how you 'admit to trolling'.

Yeah, I don't see how you can admit to being a troll. That's just silly.

RaiDK it was the IRC its public domain, it can be quote again.
I'll sum it up, Code did a +b and Alias rejoined. Alias had steadily been increasing his warn level since December last year and eventually this was the result. We gave him ample time to correct his behaviour yet he neglected to do so.

Honestly I'm not sure what to make of this either. Alias was being no more sarcastic than Bob or Brad when he said "I'm here to make your lives miserable". I mean we didn't warn Squigpie when he said he was attempting to be the most hated member etc... Though he did evade a ban so that is against the rules. He kept trying to skirt his way around our rules and exploited loopholes to try to get us to close them in what he considered a favor to the community. Unfortunately, I don't think he realized that the community didnt really want what he was asking for.

Its a shame, he can be a nice guy, but seems he just wanted to be a dick the last 6 months. Im not surprised he got banned
Golan 29 Jul 2009
Nice job breaking him, heroes. Are you all on dope or did I miss any important downfalls of FS-kind? Seems like everyone's out of their mind these days.

It indeed appears to be that way. Guess dope ain't the thing for me either.
Oh well, never mind, you guys know best how to handle these situations.

Honestly, I'm surprised that Alias stayed so long before getting banned from FS, after seeing him trolling on so many posts, like the LPTPW, the SWR departure, bringing Nooka to the UK... Every time, I thought he was going to be banned, and every time he got away, chilled some days, then restarted trolling...
I don't know if he was acting like that before, but I'm sure he's been doing so since I joined.

The thing is Alias was quite good at being an idiot and trolling, yet not breaking any rules. Thus he managed to get away with it for so long. However recently he did break some rules and thus the admins had good reason to ban him. Had he not evaded the ban on the IRC that Codecat imposed, he would still be here.

Not only did Alias skirt an IRC ban, troll the IRC before and after the ban, he's also been skirting rules on the forum...or he had been until now, I should say. Remember when Alias posted up an avatar that was political in nature? This was during the time when the SWR team was still on the forum. Alias was asked numerous times (5-6 times I believe) to take it down because the forum rules didn't allow for it. If it had been anyone else, they would have received a warning. Alias received nothing (that I'm aware of), save for a chat from Hunter.
@Golan: Are you daft man? Do you honestly believe that the entire forum staff is under the influence of some mind-altering drug(s)? It would appear that your view on Alias was that he could do no wrong, yet you conveniently dismiss the fact that Alias had been bending and breaking the rules for over half a year.

Right guys the question has been answered, lets leave this thread to die now.
Nid 29 Jul 2009
If there were to be a thread to discuss my feelings about Alias' ban, where should I place it?
I'd like to make a few points clear without causing any problems with this thread straying from the topic.

Nidmeister we always encourage our members to give us feedback, this place is as good as any. I will say that we won't be reversing the decision to ban Alias any time soon and we did ban him as a result of several months of unsuitable behaviour.
Nid 29 Jul 2009
Its not the ban that bites hard, it's the way he was treated.
After the chat logs from IRC were posted, Bob seemed to be trolling Alias into anger, disregarding his opinion.
And as for the "Lets bring Nooka to the UK" thread, I'm pretty sure Commander Carl called him an Nazi, and others were just mocking him.
As I said in the thread, it's comparitive to bullying, and is disgusting behaviour. I do not want to see it go unchallenged.

If this is the place for telling what we think of Alias' ban, then:
I disagree with Alias' ban, yes he can be an idiot, but half of the time he is a good bloke who likes to speak his opinion.
Yes he does that often and repetitively quite a lot, but it is because he believes that he is being ignored and put down, which for the most part, he was.
Edit: In light of new evidence, i'm pretty much changing my opinion to neutral.

I'm afraid I have to agree with this, especially the bold parts. But nevertheless I do recognise that his behaviour over the past few months has been less than pleasing. It's a difficult issue.
