Crysis 2 Discussion

Haven't tested it yet, but looked at some youtube reviews and:
AIM ASSIST??????
Seriously? Aim assist on PC? really a console port straight away, starting to hate it already even tho haven't played it myself yet.
We only see if it is still there in full version but if it is, Crytek needs to clear their head and do something about it even it AA won't do much but it still doesn't belong to PC.
can someone confirm that does it do anything or is it only for SP for some reason.

I haven't noticed an aim-assist so far. Or rather, I fail so misserably at hitting people, that there CAN'T be aim-assist . And if they are talking about the leaked version of Crysis 2, then simply ignore them.

So, I've played a few hours of it, and while it's been quite enjoyable, I'll share some of my thoughts regarding it so far:
- Prone seems to be out. No lean either
- I like the degree of movement you seem to get - you can mantle ledges simply by jumping at them, and maps have multiple levels so it makes the gameplay feel very fast paced
- The streamlining of the suit is a bit of a double edged sword. It's nice being able to quickly transition between modes, but you now just have 3 left - armour, stealth, and power. The cloak is mostly unchanged, the armour mode will now slow you down, and the power mode is supposed to be a combination of the speed and strength mode. Problem with that is, the only strength based ability you have left are super jumps, and regular sprinting will now use suit energy. Crytek seem to have forgotten that strength mode actually had subtle side benefits like reduced recoil, and speed mode sped up things like reloading and weapon switching. I should point out that there seems to be no more super sprinting left.
All in all, it really is just Call of Duty: Future Warfare and while some of the gameplay is interesting it's really just the same stuff; I'll probably get it when its cheap.

I actually like the fusion of speed and strength mode. Armor doesn't actually slow you down, power and stealth makes you faster. At least, armor mode seemed to me as about the speed one normally moves at in Crysis 1. But it certainly IS quite similar to Call of Duty, tho, a lot more fun, now.
More fun: I just discovered the Nano-Vision mode. It also drains energy btw. It makes enemies easier visible. It's a bit like thermal sight, but everything is grey-white, and people are red-yellow-blue highlighted

I've had great fun playing it so far.

I used it for a bit, but its a bit of waste of energy imo. I hate that sprint now uses up suit energy, you have to conserve so tightly.

Main thing I dislike is the lack of strength grabs/punches.
I don't see why people are whinging so much about energy, it regenerates so much faster than it did in the first Crysis.

Nano vision also helps find cloaked enemies I think. I also have trouble timing my melees. It looks awesome even in gamer (lowest) settings. I have stuttering here and their. I think I have to reduce my resolution from 1920x1080p when playing mp proper.
I hate the power drain when running though.

I also Dl-ed the PC version of multiplayer, Its great fun, plays a lot better on PC.
Sgt. Rho 02 Mar 2011
^This pretty much. I wasn't able to pull off running across the map, then sliding toward an enemy, jumping, cloaking and then stealth-killing him from behind on the 360
Pav:3d 02 Mar 2011
^Plus I missed being able to instantly spin round when someone was shooting me from behind
deltaepsilon 03 Mar 2011
^Did you also miss the precise degree of movement that a gamepad will never achieve?
Sgt. Rho 04 Mar 2011
Oh well. Apparently aim-assist Was active here. Since I disabled it I actually hit *better* than before xD

Downloaded it, noticed it was MP only, and uninstalled it. I'll wait for the full release then...

Maybe its just my uni connection, but i'm having real trouble connecting to games.
I seem to just be sitting in the lobby for ages.
Admittedly, when i do get into a game, its good fun

Having somehow managed to play a fairly long session, i've decided to cancel my pre-order.
There is FAR FAR FAR too much call of duty in the multi-player for my liking.
I will have a look at it when my flatmate buys it too see how much more content the online mode has. If it looks decent, i will buy it but right now, its not worth my £28.

Ion Cannon! 04 Mar 2011
I can't even play it, my crysis account was IonCannon! , but it won't let me use the "!" in my name. I tried making new accounts using all my different emails and it says they're all already in use. The chance of someone using my university email for a Crysis account is beyond ridiculous.

A friend of mine has the same problem. Apparently the servers are currently horrendously overloaded - permanently.
