To an extent you are correct, but on a purely aesthetic level only. The image I selected has a natural direction to it that is not so obvious in the wider angle one Doc used. From a technical perspective it is easier to create awesomesauce with that sort of image.

Indeed, we just need to maintain interest in the Sotw if it's run - FFA gets boring fast and it's far more fun to make it challenging when run off a render or given a very specific theme, I find.

It's not a case of "not doing anything with it", it's a case of "no-one was entering".

I agree, having a render or even a theme is far more fun, but unfortunately it's always hard to find interesting themes or renders that make for a decent sig, and inspires a large number of people to enter.
