Ok so I was in school today and the teacher give us a presentation on Nanotechnology and I must say it's amazing and some of the stuff already exists and the rest is still being made or is close to being released, what's cool is that this stuff will be ready in 10-20 years from now.

So the basic question I'm asking is this: What do you think of Nanotechnology and were it will take us?

Recently, I discovered a nanotechnology that is extremely interesting! A pill that quite literally cures anything by adapting to your bodies genetics.

Saw it in Pop Sci. VERY nice mag by the way! You guys should all buy it if you haven't already! :D

Isn't this science? There's nothing about philosophy here :D.

I've done a thesis on nanotechnology and some of the people at the research section I do research at, at the moment, look at nanoparticles. So I guess I'm involved in a way :D. I believe it will take us far. There are a lot of applications in fields like optics, electronics and biophysics, among others.

Nanotechnology has great potential, and once we get the ability to manipulate stuff on the atomic/subatomic level directly we could figure out ways to program nanobots with complex programs, and even if we can only use simple programs we could pile a lot of them in a heap and generate a sort of swarm intelligence. Then we will have created a new kind of life, never before seen in the (known) universe.

The grey goo effect, wasn't that the belief that the world will end with the creation of reproducing nanoparticles which reproduce endlessly, polluting the environment and thus killing all of humankind?

I can't say I'm for nanotechnology, mainly because we did a bit on it at school last year and to me there are a whole lot of risks...

We cannot progress beyond a certain point without nanotechnology. It's not a question of whether it's "right" or not just because the grey goo scenario is oh so scary.
Lifes a shit.. deal w/ it..its impossible to have a good day wow fuck this gay earth much??

It´s just like with messing up DNA. Playing god before having done enough research to know what we´re doing can cause serious trouble (grey goo), but hiding in our caves so that the terrors of science can´t harm us won´t do us any good either.

But with nanotech, it has style... :)
Now go out and procreate. IN THE NAME OF DOOM!
