92% of people play as USA or China. If you are part of the 8% that plays as the GLA then put this in your signature.

Yeah, I can see the similarity between a tongue-in-cheek alternate-history Cold War game and a God-knows-how-far-into-the-future game with the humans in a completely different solar system fighting off a pseudo-insectoid Borg/Alien (from the eponymous movies) hybrid race and a deeply religious highly advanced cybernetic warrior race. No difference at all :D

The storyline bears little no resemblance whatsoever to the storyline of Red Alert 2. For one thing, RA2 was extremely shallow, SC has a dramatic depth to it with plot twists and turns, where you can get some insight into what's happening and be thrown off completely.

I read the initial post four times now and it still doesn´t make sense to me... :stickattack2:

@AllStarZ
Egad, don´t mention the brilliancy of SC + BW story, it allways makes me cry and break down in despair when having a look at the newer additions of my game collection...

Nope. The Dominion is a spawn of the UED. Russia is clearly not. Also, the US would be more fitting for repressenting UED rather than the dominion dictatorship. Duran didn´t "serve" under Stukov. Infact, it was Stukov not trusting Duran. Even DuGalle never was very confident with the lieutenant´s loyalties and ambitions. You also have to take into acount that neither as a Zerg agent nor as a XN agent Duran followed his own agenda as Yuri did. Above this, Duran didn´t have any intent in taking over the humans, they were just both a usefull tool and a his manipulation did ultimatively have the goal of getting rid of them.

Padnut, What are you smoking? They are completely different, I bet you suddenly got a massive dose of nostalgia after Blizzard announced Starcraft 2.. :D

Also, Pandut. Clean your post or something because at the moment they are hard to read...

I certainly see links to real historical references in the SC storyline (though I cant be bothered chasing them up atm), but no similarities between the RA and SC storylines, apart from the facts

A) There's two humanoid armies (Allies (not USA :D), and soviets vs UED and Dominion)
B) They are (arguably) run in similar ways (although Allies dont really fit in to either the UED or Dominion,, dominion being a Dictatorship, and UED being a totalitarian regime) (ignore)

Actually, B) doesnt apply. For all intensive purposes, Allies are a democracy, soviets are communist, Dominion is Dictatorship, UED is totalitarian. So, uh, yeah, the only similarities i can see is that they are two human armies of opposing factions.

Beyond that,, yeah,, it's gasping for air really,,,
Heh,, anyone would think I like US sides,,

There is still no similarity. The only similarity is that which exists in your mind, and your mind alone. You are free to believe there is a similarity, none of us can take that from you, however the rest of us still see no similarity, no matter how many examples you give.

Starcraft's plot/storyline is closer to that of WH40k's than Red Alert's (or even RA2's for that matter).

The only ressemblance I can find is that in both cases, humanity is on the edge of genocide. In WH40k, everyone's bad by our standards, there are only degrees of evil. In SC, there are actually some genuinely good people. Or pseudo-people.

That wasn't what I was getting at in my post AllStarZ, but if that's what you found, then cool.

I was going after the fact that the Terran looked similar to the Space Marines, and the Zerg are copies of the Tyranids.
