After reading World War Z, it seemed like a good idea to see how our fellow members at E-studios would fare against zombies, but first, you'll have to give me some information to start with, then I'll do 2 dice rolls, 1 for the starting situation, and the second one for how your little piece would end. Which is either you die of the many hundreds of ways to die in a zombie apocalypse, or be the minority - the survivors that makes it to a safe zone.

So here's a little example of the things I need.

Name (An Alias is fine too)
Gender,
Age,
Location (w/ population statistics ie Suburbs, Urban, Rural, Ghetto, Sparta)
What is your house like? (Apartment, dorm, barracks, submarine, 2 story mansion..etc.)
Current mental and physical health,
Current medication,
Anything you can use in your house as a weapon,
How close you are to a potential food, water source or safe zone.
Real world skills (carpentry, plumping, MAPPING, CODING and BETA TESTING DOES NOT COUNT)
Are you close to any source of weaponry, munition depots, wood/barricade source?
Anything else you think is important

Asides from the top 4, all others are optional and up to the dice to see how competent you are.

K, I'll do Kid's first.

Dice roll 1: 2
Dice roll 2: 6

Spain, one of the few "safe" countries within Europe was regarded as the few areas on Earth that survived without much change to their economy, fauna, flora and human populations. But this doesn't mean that Spain as itself didn't have to contend with our own infestations, both from the stream of refugees and from the coastline itself. As witnessed in the carnage that came to be popularly known as "The battle for San Pedro de Alcantara"

"Jazmin, pack your stuff, we're going." A disembodied voice screamed as Jazmin continued to type to his friends on MSN, happy that his life so far hasn't been affected by the Walking Dead yet. He's already known that one of his friends in Hong Kong had already been evacuated to somewhere else, but it didn't seem real until half a thousand zombies, probably from Africa, appeared out of the surf and overwhelmed the local militia, infecting hundreds and made their way towards their town -San Pedro de Alcantara.

Jazmin's mom was already finished packing medicine, clothes, food and water into various camping packs. The TV was on in the living room, it showed the overrun city of Málaga from a helicopter's view, smoke and fire were everywhere, the camera zoomed in to see the last few hundred citizens who were making a desperate last stand against the undead. The ragged group consists of Spanish Army infantry, left behind to cover the civilians and some police officers but most of the group were ordinary civilians. They were showing the civilians taking the zombies on hand to hand, the screen showed a nun swinging a 6 foot iron candlestick, whacking the zombie's hit with a sickening crack before the transmission suddenly got cut.

Then, loudspeakers, installed in the first days of The Great Panic, suddenly started broadcasting, the monotone, mechanical voice repeating "All citizens should evacuate to La Concha".

Then, Jazmin's father shouted from the bedroom window, "Their down there! Holy fuck they're right downstairs!" Although boarded up and the stairs destroyed, the zombies downstairs were increasing by the moment, blocking their path to the evacuation point. Although having only having handled a gun a few times in his life, the first shot from his .44 Magnum bullet hit the zombie just under the left eye, sending congealed blood and brain matter spraying onto the asphalt.

"There's too many of them, we won't make it on foot." Jazmin stated obviously as he peered out the window beside his father. "Try the car." To the adults and Jazmin's brother, it seemed like the King of all good ideas, getting in the car, driving down the road up to La Concha, evac, it all seemed so safe.

"The roads are clogged with cars, there's not going to be enough space between the abandoned cars for us to drive off!" Jazmin protested, he had seen it on the news, the American freeways full of empty cars, some of them who's drivers who died now reanimated and were trying to claw away at the door, not quite understanding how to unbuckle their seat belt. The idea was quickly dismissed by the rest of his family.

The plan was set in motion, Dad would start the car, Jazmin, his brother and mother would then load rush for the car with their stuff as soon as the car started, plain and simple. It went quite smoothly, the .44 rounds blasting away at the zombies as Dad made his way for the car, the rounds sending the zombies tumbling to the floor, but not quite dead, but allowing him to have enough time to get in the car. It seemed like forever, waiting for the car to start, the zombies getting closer by the second.

That was until Jazmin suddenly pointed to the fuel door was somehow opened, probably from some looter or idiot stealing gas last night, but that particular train of thought crashed as a blood curdling scream came from the car. Johnny, a neighbor of Jazmin's family has managed to break the car window and has bitten into the poor man's neck, when he finally managed to push the the small, albeit undead boy off, it was obvious that the bite has punctured the jugular, blood sprayed out in little arcs onto the car window, obscuring most of the view from the house, but the last thing that Jazmin and his family heard were two shots, one at almost point blank range, taking off Johnny's skull, and another one, that penetrated the roof of the car, and the sound of a body slumped against the drive wheel.

It was probably minutes after the shots were fired when the helicopter found them on the roof of the apartment, but to Jazmin, it felt like forever as he stared idly at the car and the rapidly congealing blood on the insides of the car window.

"Let's go, we're getting you guys to a safe zone." The crew inside the helicopter yelled, it was a anti-climatic affair, the casual walking to the helicopter, the unhurried lifting off. But it didn't matter to Jasmin, he continued to stare at the car until it disappeared, blurred out by the smog and haze from fires blazing in the Nueva Alcántara area.

"What happened to La Concha's safe zone?" Jazmin's brother asked.
"Got overrun, around twenty thousand of them followed the remaining survivors. These are the last guys out until we saw you guys." The crew replied.

It was a silent trip after that, nobody said anything and there wasn't really much to look at, everyone staring into the nothingness, keeping their own thoughts to themselves, enjoying the cool breeze as the last tears dried from Jazmin's tired face.

The first number determines your starting situation and the process of how you get to a safe zone

The second dice roll determines the chances of you getting to a safe zone - although there's plenty of hazards in a safe zone by itself anyway.

Theoretically, if you roll a double 6, then you're pretty much safe from zombies, although you could still die from somebody blasting your face off with a 12 guage becuase he wanted to steal your rations.

I'm writing my own zombie story (Which I'll post when I have something written down beyond lists and results of coin tosses), but I never pass on a chance to read good zombie stuff, so I'll throw my own character's info down here.

Age: 17
Location: Red Creek, Michigan, suburb town population 45,000 20 miles north of a city ~1,000,000.

Current mental and physical health: good condition on both, no dependents
Current medication: none
Anything you can use in your house as a weapon: bass guitar, table legs, 20-guage pump shotgun, maul, shovel, crowbar
How close you are to a potential food, water source or safe zone: safe zone could be anywhere. Freshwater ponds half mile away, river about a mile away through forest trails.

CrazyKenny is next, yes, as my replies are according to the order of replies.

Feel free to insert your own zombie-themed stories in here, although I might want to point out something like discrepancies or other things as this thread is mostly based on the zombies and time-line of WWZ. (Which if you like, I can send over for free [s]5.99[s/])

Roll your own dice if you want, but the larger the number, the better off you are..mostly.

Dice roll 1: 1
Dice roll 2: 2

Ken Roest is very much fucked, trying to run with broken leg was bad and it hurts hell, every step was agony and Ken would've sworn the whole way back home if he wasn't busy puffing and panting trying to make it there, holding some canned vegetables under one hand and a empty revolver in the other.

"One hundred or so steps." he was almost there, he could see his neighbors waving at him, hurrying to drop the rope-ladder down for him.

"Seventy-five steps." Ken was at his edge, the gun and the food felt like dead weights, slowing him down, but his fellow humans depended on him, he had to make it.

"Fifty, half way there," he thought, followed by "and half way not." The train of thought crashed when he thought he felt a cold hand tug against his coat, he made another light slip forward and continued.

"Twenty-five steps, or was it ten? Close enough." Ken stopped counting as he threw the items he was carrying onto the bucket latched onto a string and climbed up the rope ladder with his hands and good feet, those on the roof of the cookie-cutter two-story concrete houses doing their best to help pull him up. A neighbor Ken recognised but couldn't pin a name on fired a round into a zombie, who was trying to climb up after Ken, almost within reach to grab his ankle when the round hit the undead body square in the chest, knocking it back but not quite killing it. The other zombies were trying to pound through the concrete, not quite understanding that their attempt was futile.

"Well, look what ole' cripples came back with, a empty gun and some tins of vegetables." some idiot who took refuge in them because they were probably the only well equipped group in Beuningen sneered, jabbing his hunting rifle at Ken's broken and tired leg.

"Stop it, you dick. You should be lucky we didn't let you starve." Ken shot back.

"Ole' cripple making a stand for himself, eh? Don't wanna die like your Mommy and Daddy?" He was talking about how the next day he arrived, some stupid dick with a "Last Man on Earth" Syndrome had killed his parents with a trip-wire shotgun shell rigged to the entrance of the local food-store. The shell killed Ken's father instantly, Ken's mother just merely survived until she was within steps of the concrete house, still clutching the bag of canned food with her along the way. She must have suffered a bite along the way becuase the moment Ken was sent on his first errand to retrieve the food, his mother reanimated just as he turned away. Ken never imagined that squeezing a trigger would be so hard, but the deed was done and the round he fired hit the target and that was that.

"Don't you DARE talk about my parents, they were the ones who persuaded the others to let you with us!" Ken roarded, his adrenaline propelling him to stand up and punch the poor fuck square in the nose. The man fell down, flipped over and aimed his hunting rifle at Ken and pulled the trigger.

"I guess I win, sucker."

*Click*

*Click*

*Click Click Click*

"Click" BANG.

Smoke wafted into the air from the barrel of a gun, blood splattered across Ken's face as he stared at the "unface" of the moron who insulted his parents and tried to kill him. His face was blown clean off, a single eyeball attacked to a sinew fell to neck length as blood and brain matter slowly oozed onto the floor.

"Close one." Ken didn't bother to turn his head, recognising the voice as the guy who lived down the street, his own high powered hunting rifle still held tightly in his hands and a single bullet casing on the ground. The voice turned into a shadow, and then appeared into his vision as the figure bent down to check the guy's dead body. "Dumb fuck doesn't know shit about guns, doesn't even have his safety off" and he ejected the cartridge, "Blanks, that idiot." He said again as he continued to inspect the body.

Ken licked his lips, it tasted of blood. He stood there for what seemed like a eternity before someone handed him a towel to get cleaned up. He poured water over his face, letting the guy's blood and remains be washed off, the water dripping down onto the little undead hoard that was still gathered below them when suddenly, they heard the sound of wood cracking.

"Get to your stations!" A male voice yelled as everyone rushed to their designated positions, those with firearms training were to shoot those who broke in and the rest were to barricade, repair and only engage in hand to hand combat with their assortment of knives and hatchets if necessary.

The hoard below, at least two hundred strong and growing has someone made a complete circle around the houses, the weight and force of the mass pushing against the heavily barricaded door proved too much for the plywood and furniture as they slowly toppled over or simply broke in half. The rudimentary masonry a neighbor fixed for the windows slowly crumbling under the combined weight.

The final fight was hard, messy and overwhelming. At least a hundred dead bodies piled at the doors and windows, which the clean-up crew assumed were the undead hoard. There were signs of a fight at the these choke points, shotgun shells, bullet casings, even a few crossbow arrows lay scattered on the now crimson shit-colored floor, stained by the blood of so many bodies. There was also sign that a few of the presumed survivors were dragged into the undead mass by their limbs and torn apart inside the house, as shown by the fact a few of the skeletal remains were scattered, a femur here, a shoulder blade there, even a skull perched on top of a unopened can of vegetables.

The largest mound of survivor remains were in the middle, behind a tipped over kitchen table, where the white bones of several small children and a few larger ones lie. The children huddled together, one of them holding a large, over sized teddy bear and another one a faded and blood-stained picture of a family at Disneyland. The larger skeletons formed a protective circle around the now dead children, some holding empty guns like bludgeons, one held a hunting knife and the final one, the one that stood directly between the hoard and the children held a revolver. The body seemed to have been propped up against the flipped over table, sporting a broken leg and every single bullet inside spent.

The clean-up crew later found a bill, addressed to a Mr Roest and beside it was a get well card, dated exactly a decade before the war. On it, the elegant and slightly curved writing simply wrote "Get well, Ken. We miss you."
