Hey everyone,

Alright, first off, take a deep breath for a moment and check out all the upcoming fun with the ladder season starting Monday and Command & Conquer TV and a new website coming back to you Friday and plenty more next week.

That said, Patch 1.09 status update, here is the latest:

Patch 1.09 is currently in our QA department being tested. We are finally going to release the "free" Battlecast Viewer client alongside Patch 1.09 as a separate download. You may have been wondering about Battlecast, well, we have spent considerable time doing a huge facelift on the Battlecast system on our website and when Patch 1.09 releases, you will see a lot of those changes. The changes are intended to make the Battlecast system work MUCH quicker and be more user friendly. They will be very impactful significant changes, and i'm sure you'll be more inspired to broadcast your matches, watch them live, and even give yourself a shot at being on BattleCast Primetime. More on these changes as we get closer.

The full balance changes for Patch 1.09 will be revealed next week around when BattleCast Primetime Episode 2 debuts. The show will feature an in-depth interview with lead patch designer Gavin Simon, where he will explain the changes that are coming. This alongside the read-me will give you a very good understanding of the changes.

Just to remind you on some of the high level impactful changes:

- significant change to the economy involving the Harvest payload
-significant upgrade to infantry to make them much more worthwhile and usable

There is that and of course more, and a number of significant bug changes.

Patch 1.09 is on track for release in the 1st half of October as of right now. If that timeline changes, I will inform you. I always hate to put a specific date or even mention "1st half", but I feel confident in our dev team right now and it feels like we are on track to deliver within that time-frame.

The ladder season will not wait for Patch 1.09. Its time to kick it off and 1.09 will be a cool challenge wrench to throw in early on. We will not reset the ladder again until the end of the season.

It is with our best intent to continue patching Command & Conquer 3 and providing you the best community support possible we can daily.

So, to review:

Patch 1.09 + Battlecast Viewer (for those who dont own the game of course) + Battlecast website changes = 1st half of October.

Patch 1.09 full change- list, early next week.

Thanks,
APOC

Sounds like C&C3 will no longer be a spam game :)

Well changing the payload of harvesters is hardly gonna stop it from being a spam game.. not that i think it is that in the first place...

Also, not sure what game they've been playing, but i've found infantry pretty damn useful already... let's just hope its not gonna be "LOLS LETS MAKE EVERY UNIT UBER"

Well we don't exactly know how they're making them 'more useful'... Time will tell.

The economy change is going to slow the game down a lot. Not sure if it will solve the spamming, though, or encourage players to preserve units like you have in Generals.

I hope they reduce the hit points on some of the major buildings because it takes a lot of units already to kill a war factory on auto-repair in good time.

This one made me lol:

Quote

-significant upgrade to infantry to make them much more worthwhile and usable
Nod-Militant Spam owns almost everything and is another one of the main reasons why many newbies and part-time players are fed up with CNC3. Lol, right, i can imagine what making infantry "worthwhile and usable" means to EA - it´s already ridiculous enough how long heavy infantry can resist AP damage.

What EA needs to do to infantry is MAKING them infantry - right now their just ultra light vehicles. High DMG, low ROF, low Spd, medium mobility, that´s what infantry should be about. But right now, infantry is as fast as fucking tanks and survives heavy barrages, making TW´s unitlist more like this:

Ultra Heavy Vehicles (Mammoths, Tris)
Light Ultra Heavy Vehicles (Avas, Juggs)
Light Light Ultra Heavy Vehicles (Preds etc.)
Light Light Light Ultra Heavy Vehicles (APCs, Shocktroopers etc.)
Light Light Light Ultra Heavy Vehicles with uber ownage cost/performance ratio (Seekers, Ex-Pitbulls etc.)
Light Light Light Light Ultra Heavy Vehicles aka Infantry
Now go out and procreate. IN THE NAME OF DOOM!

Make the hero unit more damn useful. except for the mastermind both the nod and gdi commandos suck uber ass. Burton, Kell and Lotus were much much more epic.

Yes, but sadly it will never happen. :)

And about the Heros, I do agree with that aswell.
When I played the Demo or the Full game lately ( at a Colleague's House ) I noticed that they are quite useless.
They also just seem to be " some other Unit " without a big personality.

Yeah, but waypoint problems can't be fixed which is very annoying :-/

Oh and Golan, I completely agree with you. Spamming inf with rocketlaunchers just isn't funny anymore. It works pretty well against everything. And the damage they deal is unmatched.

Well, the person balancing C&C 3 is the same guy who "balanced" Yuri's Revenge, so go figure.

People who say it isn't a spam game, I urge you once more to download some replays off of Gamereplays.org, which shows replays between the people who rank in the top 100. Let the replays do the talking for themselves.

I wonder if EA will nerf the seeker in this patch? Those things are too good, no Scrin player has a reason to use devourer tanks. Why micro when you can spam FTW? Micro is just not rewarded in C&C 3 like it is in Generals.

Seekers

-are cheap
-they build quickly
-they detect stealth
-they fire on air
-they move at decent speed

Try using rocket men to counter seeker spam and the Scrin player will drop a buzzer swarm on your ass and put a stasis shield on any units you try to mass against it to meet it head on.

C&C 3 could be a really good game instead of just being average if it had proper harrassment and hard counter system: rock, paper, scissors.

OT for a bit, but I think Yuri's revenge is actually very balanced.

At first I felt the same way as everyone else, but I found that countering Yuri players required unusual thinking. Artillery for the front lines, tanks as support units, use of weak units like dogs, robot tanks and terror drones for actual assault forces etc.

Obviously you haven't seen how pesky magnetron spamming can be on water maps.

Magnetron, isn't that the tank that lifts stuff up?

Yes. Lift tank over water. Stop lifting. Tank is no more.
