For half a year now I have a rough association of what I will do in the next years of my life... 5 years ago I wanted to be a Pilot and 2 years ago I wanted to do something with media design... But here in germany its hard to get a job as a media designer and its even harder to get this job with a good payment, therefore I decided to make media design as a hobby and dont try to get this as a job... Now I visit a management and business administration school and do my abitur (comparable with a-levels). Next year I will choose english as my intensive course and I will then have 5 hours a week together with 5-8 other classmates english lessons.

After the abitur I will do my civilian service, if I dont get sorted out... when I have finished this I want to go for one year or a half to spain to learn spanish a bit more (I have it already in school). After this I want to get a good job in germany or spain with contacts to other countries and a job where I can use the stuff I learn in the school I visit now...

That are my plans for the next years of my life... any comments?

What are your plans?

My goal was to become an astronaut when I was just a little child , when the days passed I learned it is not possible in such circumstances to be an astronaut and I decided to be an archaeologist, but as I see this is not possible aswell I tried to improve my skill on drawing and still I am seeking to become a concept designer , still I do wish to be an astronaut or archaeologist but knowing my education level and familial reasons , being a concept designer is the best choice left for me ...

When I achieve this goal I plan to make a world tour to places like Peru ( Nazca ) , Egypt ( Great Pyramid of Giza ) , and eventually Africa.

My plans are rather generic I guess...
Finish school, do basic training now that I was T2'd and after that, I'll probably study something, history or English, for whatever I deem useful.
Oh and I considered joining a political party sooner or later but that's pretty much everything. Not a special life but I don't care......

lol, well, if you really wanna know, I'm probably gonna specialize my study in either organic or inorganic chemistry, become a assistant-in-training at the relevant department, and do some field work. From there, I'll probably either expand my involvement at the university (climb up the faculty tree) or apply for a job at some chemical company. In either case, I'm trying to be kept on the practical side, that is, working on research and development projects. The one thing I'll definately not do is get into business life, with some kind of managerial function. ATM, my highest goal is to become executive of some research department, directing as well as performing research.

I wanted to become a lawyer but when I realize how mind-shatteringly boring reading law was I quit about halfway through the first year.

I was unsure of what I wanted to do between the ages of one and eight. About midway through my eighth year, I decided to go into aerospace engineering, not that I know what it was called for roughly the next two years. When I was ten or eleven, I began designing concepts of aircraft and put it to work in 3D the same year. After literally hundreds of concepts and four or five years, I realized that such a career wouldn't land me a paycheck that I deem acceptable, with the top 25% making only upwards of I believe 108,000 a year in the US. So NASA and Lockheed and Boeing are out of the question, sort of.

This realization happened around the time I made that topic about happiness. In fact, the situations were closely linked. Such a sad realization led to some depression. However, after weeks of thinking it over, after searching through dozens of careers, I've landed on politics. Lobbying to be specific. Assuming I'm good at it, I can make a nice living. Lobbying for a controversial industry can, apparently, lead to a good profit. I dont' care what I lobby for so that could help my case.

I might try and run for public office as well. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Boidy you will make a fantastic lobbist. I can tell. For whatever political arena you find yourself in you will thrive.

For myself I am rather past the point of plans. I wanted to be a journo, couldn't be arsed with the workload & shitty pay. Then a lawyer, couldn't be arsed with schooling. So I went into media at university where I excelled at it. Unfortunately it's a crumby industry and not worth doing. So I ended up in my current job. It has it's plus points, decent pay, with top end being about £150k, ex bonuses, social, my job is get on with people, and I also get to argue professionally everyday. While some people might not think so, I love a good barny.

As from now on, I married the woman I supposed to be with and am buying our next house very soon.

So therefore there are only two things left for me to do.

1/ Have several kids and give them the best chances in life I can do
2/ Improve my handicap!! LOL

Aw, you do realise I come here to escape reality, I'm in a final year and I still have no idea, better start thinking about a job, possibly maths related tho I can pretty much do anything within 2 years.

For one thing maybe marry my high school sweet heart. Provide money for her and my children.

But anything can go...for God's plan can not be disrupted.

@ Mylo there is a huge demand for jobs in Alberta (Canada) so if you are willing to make a few discreet checks and present your credentials you may get quite a few job offers. So assuming you get picked up by a company and you are willing to travel and are able to brave our winters I think you will have excellent job security. Not to mention a good salary. Plus free health care (once you become a naturalized immigrant) more or less free education (for kids???) and all the fun stuff associated with half socialist country.

I figured I would just put that out there.

Fate? Sure, I spend years learning enough to make myself indpenedent of most common influences, family, religion etc, only to be taken under the wing of some mysterious entity?

Over my dead body, and thats not a plan, it's an idea, a reasonably likely idea, tbh I don't know what I'm gonna be doing in 10 years, hopefully I'll be getting round to marraige and mabye a kid or two. That being said, for children I would have to be in a country where I know they can grow up well, because the most human thing, and I like to think like a human, not a person, is to do the best for my lot, my family, my offspring.

Well, my time is already planned.
Coz I'm 16, I still have a year of school (I joined school when I was 5, I was too smart :D)
And when I'm 18 I need to draft to the army (a must here in the holy land).
And after that it's back to my good old fashioned birth place! USA!
So I'll score a job there with my uncles and have a good life...
Yeah, no surprises in my life...

I'm going to school, University of Utah, in the United States, if any of you don't know where Utah is, it's in the Rocky Mountains in the West United States. I may go on a mission when I turn nineteen in April, for my church that is, I'm a Mormon, but I may wait a while, till I'm done with school. But, I'm going to school to get a degree in Chemistry, then it's off to graduate school to get my doctorate and then teach at a University and do research, most likely involving Hydrocarbons and alternative fuel sources, I'm a big nerd, so yeah. No military for me, I can't kill someone, it's just not in me to do it. Thought about maybe running for a political office, but I don't know, Chemistry's my thing.

Sincerely,
Noswar

I've had my plans set out for sometime.

1) Go to college
2) Graduate with a Masters/Ph.D in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology
3) Work for either a local NWS WFO (Weather Forecast Office), TV station, or perhaps even the Weather Channel (though their forecasts seem very inaccurate)
4) Marry my darling girl Amanda
5) Settle in (as in, family life, 1 kid)

Though, #4 is probably going to happen first (if everything goes right and I've been hoping for so long that it does). And the road ahead of me is long and full of surprises, seeing as I'm only in my last year of high school. The life I've had planned out for me isn't a famous one, but it pays a respectable amount of money (starting from like, $35-40,000/year up to $110,000/year) and it'll give me a sense of purpose protecting the public from possible disasters or telling them it's gonna be a fine day and live it up.

And yes, I've been set on the meteorology thing for a long time (since I was 6). :D

I wasn't suggesting that you leave your future up to the stars mate. I most certainly wouldn't expect YOU to do that LOL! I merely meant that no amount of planning can prepare you for what's ahead. So why put in the effort for the long haul when the surprise is half the fun of life :D

Hey don't worry, lot's of teens don't know what they want to be later. A lot of the people I know at CÉGEP (a cookie to anyone who actually knows what a CÉGEP is) who are about 18-19 years old have no idea of their future jobs. Eventually, everyone finds something, so don't worry. It'll come, sooner or later.

As for me, I wanted to become Pharmacist (no comments please lol), but now I'm seriously unsure of me getting the required grades because I have lowish grades in Chemistry and Biology (81% and 83%)... I might turn into Chemical Engineering (I don't know if it's the good name in English, in French it's Ingénieur Chimique. Yeah I'm a French-talking Chinese guy. Don't ask). I'll see...

- M26 Pershing buff (CoH)
- My good old Tiger Ace (CoH)
- Fallschrimjaegers having Stormtrooper K98s by default (CoH)
- Toning down of Ashigaru Musketeers (they're f***ing ridiculous) (AoE 3)
- Boosting of Portuguese in some way (AoE 3)
- Not much in RL lol
