Battleships Forever is a Standalone 2D RTS game.
Kenny and Lizzie recently got me into the game, and despite the lack of modern videogame graphics, it is an incredibly impressive and addictive standalone game. You command units pretty much like in C&C3; leftclick, rightclick style. the game revolved heavily on how effectively you place your ships, to bring their weapons and defences to full potential.
It comes with a Ship Maker so you can design your own ships too :D
which Me, Ken, and Lizzie have been doing, attempting to outdo each other.
heres some ingame screens.

I highly reccomend :P

Can anybody explain to me why combat-ready "space vehicles" are referred to as ships/navies/armadas?

Dunno, I guess space combat has always been described that way.
Posibly because space battles greatly resemble naval battles.

and can you imagine people saying "Look at that combat ready space vehicle up there!"?

No, but calling one a battleship seems equally ridiculous to me.

Not exactly sure why this convo sprang up. But can you carry it on elseware? Kinda going off-topic.

Methinks it was Star Trek's fault. Using naval ranks for crews and well yeah you know the rest.

Downloaded it yesterday. Gotta admit it's pretty fun. I haven't been able to get creative enough to make one of the giant battleships that the others have made. I do have one that can take on a Hecate class with no problem though (even . It's fairly small but packs a pretty big punch.

Here is the Harbinger:

In case you can't see, here's the armament: 6 aegis deflectors
6 gatling pulse lasers
2 flak cannons
4 blasters
2 plasma cannons

I know for sure that the Lancet and the Frosch have to be manually fired. That is, click on the ship's turret, and right click on the target.

The Frosch works like an EMP Patriot missile, temporarily disabling the enemy. The Lancet is like a bouncy railgun. It bounces off Aegis'd sections.

I think the rest have to be manually fired too.

I'm planning on making a giant warship sometime, dunno when.

Gravbeam allows you to manipulate other objects - pull or push other ships, or slam debris into enemy ships :/

And Lizzie, you have way too much time on your hands, you know that :/

:stickattack3:
Ablatives + reinforced internal structure + Deflectors + Over Clocked weapons. Brittle? I think not.

Uhh.......Waris, you might wanna bite your tongue (or Lizzie's ship will do it for you). You might think it's a brittle cookie, but it'll gobble down your cheese wedges with some cheap wine in seconds :/ . Believe me, Lizzie's ships are tougher than nails and they look pretty good too.

I dare you to get through the Aegis-hardened hull while being swarmed by a few of those. I double dare you.

Great fun, this game is. Tons of weapons, all of which are fun to use, lots of customisability, looks pretty good... Great fun all around. Nice find!

@ Waris: those blue thingeys you made look intensely cool.
