Hi,

Although I've got RenX and Gmax, I was also lucky enough to get my hands on a friends copy of 3d Studio Max 2008.

I was impressed by the things I could do, and impressed by the fact it had a w3d exporter! Unfortunately, when it came to export my first max 2008 model, I used W3d viewer to have a look and it just wasn't exported, I also tried to put it in the game just incase it was a glitch in W3d viewer but it wasn't.

Does anyone know what settings I need to use?

Ive included a screen print of the options dialog....

That is not the generals/renegade w3d exporter.

Nope, it's included as standard. I managed to get the CNC3 SDK plug ins working in it, but when I use their export under w3d tools I still get the same diolog! I'm some what baffled! I can get by with gmax but would love to figure this out, as at the moment I'm exporting in 3ds format and then importing to renx, and it's a pain!

What Master_Chief said is right. That's NOT the Westwood 3D format Generals uses.

if indeed you do have the sdk kit installed, when exporting, there should be 2 w3d formats, make sure you select the one that isn't the shockwave one :P

Ahhh I get it now, Shockwave 3D and the W3d Generals needs are in compatible! I have discovered totally by accident how to export to W3x and export XML, so at least when I'm done with ZH I can mod CNC3... If I can be bothered to learn how!

Thanks for all your input, I'll just have to stop being Lazy for now! :P

Oh, and I shouldn't have used the CNC3 plugin! Also the RenX plugins try to export to Shockwave! Just in case anyone has the same problem!

Look, -there is no RenX plugin-. Got it? There´s only RenX gamepack which must be run with a separate shortcut. If you´ve still got that shockwave bullcrap installed, erase the plugin, it´s no need for you...

If you really want to use 3DSMax to mod for that shitload known as CNC:ZH, get the BFME mod SDK, it has a functional exporter for Westwood 3Ds.
Now go out and procreate. IN THE NAME OF DOOM!
