The Hills Have Eyes - 5,5/10
Though I'm a Craven fan, this movie is just old. Compared to modern movies, the antogonists reveal themselves too quickly and aren't at all scary. I'm sure it was suspenseful in its day, but nowadays, you're much better off with his more recent movies. Moreover, it was kinda predictable, and there is no pleasant or aesthetic soundtrack or something. I don't want to call it bad but nothing at all to be excited about, so I gave it the lowest passing score, a 5,5.

This movie is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys watching horror or thriller movies. A highly immersive movie about a hotel room that keeps its suspense, and bathes you in atmosphere. The whole movie keeps you on the edge of your seat with not only standard scaring tactics but also through subtle tricks and a great surrealist touch typical of a work of Stephen King. Though I didn't read the book, I'm sure this movie does it credit. Sole criticism; you know what the ending will be, almost from the start (because of a hint that should have been left out IMO), and it is also just a bit too typical.

I'd love for this to be made into a point-and-click, by the way .

~Brad Pitt movie, its kinda boring in the start, the ultimatum is in the end. its kinda twist movie.. i watched it a couple of times.

I just watched Coraline.

Was pretty much what I expected, a pretty good movie with a generally creepy feel to it. I really loved Adored the art style, especially considering the fact that most of that movie was made in stop-motion; a whole lotta effort went into making that movie, and I'm glad it turned out good. Although it was the first movie that I've ever seen with a fetch quest in it, I didn't liek the fetch quest, but I really don't see how they could've done it another way without F'ing up the plotline.

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist - 7/10

A spoof of the old dubbed kung-fu movies that were spawned by the dozens a while ago, with some Matrix references thrown in for good measure, it's basically one of those movies with the dubbing and sound removed, and new dubbing, sound, a new actor and a few new scenes inserted. The result is a spoof that's so incredibly corny that it's funny again. Exploiting goofs, plot holes and cliches inherent to those old movies, you might have to have seen one of those movies to fully appreciate the humour in it but I dare say you will have one or two laughs regardless. Also, a cool ending soundtrack .

A fantastic French thriller. Claude Lelouch spices up the thriller genre with this fantastic film which literally keeps you guessing up until the climax. Take note, this is no average shoot em up mindless film, it's very intelligent and also at times, a farce.

Top Gun - 6/10

I've been looking at Andy's (Ghostrider's) alias and quote for so long now that I've decided to give it a try . Within three minutes though, it became quite clear that you have to be kind of an aviation nut to fully appreciate this, since almost the entire movie consists of flight scenes (high-tension exercises and hostile encounters) in which highly talented but over-the-top daredevil flight ace Tom Cruise stars. The plot's quite shallow but that's not what the movie was designed around anyway - the flight scenes are much more interesting. All in all, I say you must at least like aerial warfare to enjoy this film at all, but I can imagine you'd worship it if you worship aviation.

There is no doubt that to be a human you need to watch this masterpiece. This has gotta be the best movie Hanks ever had part of doing.

Forrest Gump - 9/10
Hanks plays the role of an intellectually challenged individual well beyond words. The movie, which features Gump narrating about his quite eventful life, is told in a brilliant way. Seriously recommended for all audiences.

While I agree entirely with the score you gave to Forest Gump, as it is a phenomenal movie, I would disagree with the your above statement. The last movie I watched was Philadelphia, which coincidentally also has Tom Hanks in it. A top businessman in New York, Hanks contracts Aids due to his homosexual activities, and is subsequently fired from his job by his bosses. He searches for a lawyer, and takes the company to court over unfair dismissal. Not a legal thriller, but a compassionate, brilliant movie that so accurately portrays the city of New York in all of it's glamour and shame. If you haven't seen this movie, you must. This is where Hanks got his big break - he won an Oscar for Best Actor, and he never looked back from there. It takes a true acting genius to pull off the role in this movie, and anyone other than Hanks would not have done it. Simple Phenomenal.

Oh, and the Soundtrack includes Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen, which won an Oscar too. The moment that song plays, combined with Hanks' acting during that section, is one of the most fantastic, breathtaking, heartbreaking pieces of cinema ever.

A very solid 10/10

Last Friday (Thursday in North American continent), I bought from Video City the following:

1. Silence of the Lambs (9/10)
2. Red Dragon (9.75/10)
3. Hannibal (8.5/10)

I watched all three on a Sunday morning ('till early night). Hannibal Lecter is really cool (in a wicked sort of way). They could have dinner with The Joker. What do you think?

Slumdog Millionaire 10/10

The story behind the movie is incredibly moving. I enjoyed every single moment. Authentic romance, tension, comedy and drama all blended in a stunningly genuine glimpse of the Indian country. Mumbai is probably the city I wanna visit next. This movie deserves every Oscar it won. This is indeed a masterpiece. And I must say this year's Oscar nominees were excellent choices.

28 Days Later - 7,5/10

Pretty good infection movie with some resemblance to L4D (bonus points ), this one has a pretty good story for one and is pretty well-acted. Though it's kinda ridiculously easy to get infected, and the incubation time is also extremely short at 10-20 seconds, it's not at all a bad movie. Note that unlike movies like Resident Evil, this movie isn't that action-heavy. The movie isn't that much about the survivors trying to kill the infected, rather it is about them coping with a world full of infected.

Totally and utterly blew me away, I have been waiting for this movie for years and knew what to expect and I was still blown away by it. Only flaw: It won't appeal to a mainstream audience, but hey it was never meant to. I was expecting to be disappointed by the changes to the ending and somehow I was more than just amazed by the entire film.

Ronin - 6,5/10

No, this doesn't have anything to do with feudal Japan, in fact it's about a bunch of criminals planning a sort of heist. The movie certainly isn't bad but I can't say it really shines in anything; acting isn't great and most of all, this movie is extremely un-unique since there's so many movies of this type with this kind of plot. Soundtrack is also notably absent. Still though, the movie is absolutely not bad, it's just "another one of those" which diminished its score here a bit.

Requiem for a Dream - 8/10

A movie about (drug) addiction - if you ever need a drug demotivator, this is it. The movie starts off in utter misery and only gets worse and worse as it progresses; every time you think it couldn't possibly get more miserable, it does exactly that. With some brilliant acting, especially from Burstyn (academy award nomination for this well deserved), this movie grips you pretty tightly. Certainly worth watching . The movie also has a well-known, excellent soundtrack well worth getting on its own.

To put it short, it's the whorst mix of bad ideas, a chunk of random scenes, violence and idiocy you could ever possibly watch.

And then that scene, bababa BaBaBaBa BABABABABA *huge blue superman made of tachyons comes over the mountain* *PPRRRTZZZZ* *4 vietnamese explode into pieces*.

Oh, and of course, the raping comedian "superhero" >.<
