I am very surprised at that, the Watchmen had a lot of hype behind it, and people were tipping it to be the next great superhero movie. Though, IIRC, they chose the cast based on looks (similarity to the cartoon characters) rather than for acting skills, and eanded up with a cast of unknowns. Pity, especially with Zack Snyder at the helm I would have expected better.

Taken - 7/10

Starring Liam Neeson as an action man (yes, bet you didn't think that was possible, now did you?), being a retired government agent who gets very pissed off at the people who kidnap his daughter. The movie's plot is a bit over-the-top and lots of little background things are quite exaggerated, and the movie doesn't have any specific great selling points but isn't bad in any aspect. Not a bad watch, this, but it doesn't have a unique charm.

I love the movie, and while its not too fast and you can enjoy the character development some more music added would have helped, just to stop the ears getting bored.

300 - 7,5/10

Yes, this was my first time watching it. The instant internet hype at first kinda turned me away from the movie but I've decided to give it a go regardless.

Obviously a Frank Miller adaptation, the original story is quite raped and for some reason the bad people are depicted as either grotesquely deformed monstrosities or wildlings, with King Xerxes, who actually probably looked somewhat like how Leonidas is depicted in the movie, is shown as a half-naked bondage fetishist drag queen, taking the worst of it. However, period. Like everything Frank Miller, the awe this movie inspires can be cut with a knife, ridiculously exaggerated though everything may be, and it's still quite entertaining to see the Ancient Greek variant of bullet time in action in the massive fight scenes. Visual effects are quite outstanding here and the whole thing really tries to pull you into the movie, which it quite successfully does. For any action fan, well-recommended.

2001: A Space Odyssey - 10/10
I agree with Rayburn in this.
It's very psychological (like every Kubrick's film (for example Clock-work Orange)) and psychedelic sometimes. Those animations in the end aren't so extra today, esp. those eggs... but other tricks were very well done, also music. I recommend to watch this film.

2010: The 2nd Space Odyssey (or somehow like that) 8.5/10 - it was nice attempt to overcome 1st movie, but I don't like some things, like monitors are 100% rounded CRTs (even Bond had LCD in that time if it wasn't later a bit) when you can't tell of if those screens in previous movie are flat or not (look flat). But this isn't such big minus when I consider when it was created. Also there was one Czech actor as Russian cosmonaut. The intelectual and psychological parts aren't so deep as in the previous film, but those effects are nice. Also soviet ship design is awesome (haha, what a tiny US spaceship! ). I recommend to watch this film.

P.S.: It would be nice if someone came with the 2nd half of this tetralogy or made nice remake (but in same style, not like those Bond-like thrillers).

the plot sucks, its not even original (about every scene is stolen somewhere), and most cuts are under 1 sec, to they can make "zomg there´s so much action going on" most of the time without even trying to show some story/sense...

Godzilla, Mothra & King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
5/10

Not the greatest Godzilla movie ever, which it unfortunately was made out to be in a lot of places. Godzilla is made out to be evil, which isn't that much of a problem, except King Ghidorah is made out to be the hero... Originally Ghidorah was a dragon from outer space which wiped out civilizations, here he's an ancient protector from Godzilla. To make Godzilla seem stronger, all the other monsters were turned into complete wimps. It looks pretty nice, it just lacks in every other area.

Not a porn but a B grade R Rated movie. Was not expecting a Oscar winning performance but the movie was decent. it you like American pie style comedy the Movie (why is movie not a official word in firefox dictionary?) is pretty decent.

Ok i never liked bush but this movie based on bush is freaking awesome. Acting was great. Hell the guy who played G W Bush almost made me feel sorry for the real dude. Keep your mind open and not get offended by anything. a Neutral view point is the only way to enjoy this movie.

Godzilla vs Mothra: The Battle for Earth
8/10

IMO, the best Godzilla movies came in the 90s, like this one. Great balance between seriousness and camp, good special effects, decent story, etc. And unlike GMK Mothra is actually decently powerful as well.

I also like how the movies in the 90s had shared continuity, things which happened in one movie are mentioned in other movies, as well as actually having an effect on these other movies (IE. At the end of Godzilla vs Mothra, Mothra flies into space to stop a meteor: This explains her absense from the rest of the 90s movies, and also is used as an explanation as to how Spacegodzilla came to be.)

Mad Max 2 - The Road Warrior - 6,5/10

Much more interesting than its predecessor, which was mostly just a "badarse lone cop" movie, MM2 takes place in a dystopian future where everyone is a scavenger, especially for petrol. Though fairly old and not fantastically acted, it should be a good watch to action fans.

Doom (2005)

Not as bad as I thought!

While it is irrelevant to the wildly popular video game series of the same name, I found the movie to be a simple, and often entertaining clone of a film like Aliens. One part I considered funny was shortly after the Marine Squad arrived at the Research Facilty and they were walking down the hall when a toddler in her mother's arms pointed to them and yelled out, "Mommy, look!" The special effects I interpreted as really well done, although others might not think of them as such. The only real connection between the film and the game is the legendary BFG and the fact that the Union Aerospace Corporation is present. I think that I should have been it's own original project, and not titled Doom, because I found it to stray too far from the game. But that's OK. The film contains lots of gory action, which is physically impossible to get too much of. If you don't know the Doom series, but want some action, (Not THAT kind of action ) Doom is a movie I would reccomend. However, if you played the Doom games, but are a purist (which I am not) the movie's going to suck.

Max Payne - 6,5/10

Not at all a bad movie, but like many moviefications, it's just not about the original. It's not about Max Payne, even if that's the movie's title and the protagonist's name. Valkyr isn't a green, injected drug but instead a blue drink (even though all the V graffiti on the walls still bear the needle insignia), Vlad isn't in the movie, nor are Alfred Woden and the Inner Circle, Max' nightmares are left out (which were some of the most atmospheric, thrilling and entertaining bits in the video game(s)), and the ending is somewhat different, and especially not nearly as climactic and well-built-up as the game was. In addition, the notion of just what a Valkyrie is is completely messed up, and the two or so bullet time scenes are IMHO executed badly, and at times where they were not at all needed (they feel more like a forced insertion). The movie tries to make a few direct references to the game to compensate for this but it doesn't work.

Nonetheless, the movie isn't really that bad. Still plenty of action about, and even though the story has been somewhat raped, the remains are not ruins (the original story was pretty good, even after busting it up it still remains somewhat amusing). I suspect that the movie will be significantly better to watch if you haven't played the game since you wouldn't miss the elements that've been left out, but even being a fan of the game I found it entertaining. Hardcore fans might want to give it a miss though.

Whatever words I'm typing here are typed with difficulty, since I'm having a hard time describing anything of this movie accurately. The genre alone could be said to be a mixture of drama, thriller and horror, yet it is none of those at the same time. One thing that's for sure is that this movie was filmed in subtlety. Everything about the movie is subtle. Exploring the life of a paranoid schizophrenic boy, played by Gyllenhaal in a quite convincing way, the movie sets an unsettling tone throughout without doing anything radical along the way. Also, a good choice of music throughout the movie. I suppose you just need to see it in order to know what this is all about. All I can say is that the movie is certainly worth the while (except for action-only fans).

EDIT: upping this by 0,5, more lasting impression than I first thought.

I first thought it was an typical superhero movie but i sure had wrong it had like everything,
many classic movie references and great plot but kinda unrealestic at some parts.

Its an biography movie about Che Guevara which was ok.
What i didn't like was that the music used in the trailer wasn't used.
Maybe there was but i maybe didn't find it, Probably in the credits or something

Car movie. The story is as deep as a spoon and incredibly predictable, too, but the story is of course just an excuse for making a movie that is essentially Need For Speed playing out in front of your eyes. Simply said; if you like cars, you will like this. If you don't, you won't.
