The Spirit 8/10

Nice movie, a bit hard to follow with all of those black an' white 1940s effects. Samuel Jackson also plays a good character, a strange, but good one.

The curious case of Benjamin Button - 7,5/10

A drama movie I somewhat accidentally stumbled into, this movie is about a man who is born with severe physical defects characteristic of an 80-year old. As time progresses however, he gets younger, while the people who he loves and v.v. of course do the exact opposite thing, and this leads to some blabla you can probably imagine. Though the movie is IMO not certainly not bad, I must comment that it felt really really much like a forced copy of Forrest Gump (though the stories don't overlap, the two movies have a whole lot in common if you look for details) with a few things that make it substantially more unbelievable and being considerably less interesting and emotional than FG. Though you'll probably like the movie if you don't mind drama movies, and probably love it if you love them, there is nothing here that will make non-drama people change their minds.

The Mist - 8/10

When I first read the title, I thought it was gonna be a cheap rip off of 'The Fog', but after reading the description I realised it was based on a Steven King novel, so that pretty much made up my mind that I was going to watch it.

The morning after a bad a thunderstorm, the Drayton family notice a unnatural mist moving in across the lake towards their home. More concerned with cleaning up the after effects of the storm, the husband and son, and neighbour go to the supermarket to pick up supplies. There is an increased police and military presence in the streets. Air-raid sirens go off and the store gets sourrounded by the mist. A man comes screaming towards the front door, saying that there is something in the mist :o

The CGI of some of the things they see isn't particullary fantastic, but the story more than makes up for that. If you are looking for a unique monster film, this probably isn't the one you are looking for. The interesting thing about this film is what happens to a bunch of scared people, that are stuck in a supermarket, how people to start to turn on each other. Also, in true Steven King fashion, it has a neat little ending to. Definately worth a watch, even if horror isn't your prefered genre.

Urban Legend - Final Cut 1/10

This movie epically fails in nearly every way imaginable. It tries to poke fun at horror/slasher movies and fails most of the time. The characters are so excessively shallow, it isn't even funny. The plot is too prdictable and far froom enjoyable. Don't watse your time with this.

Wall-E

10/10

Surprisingly good. Sort of satirical, top notch animation as usual with Pixar. Good characters, original plot... Yeah this movie pretty much has everything going for it.

Terminator Salvation 8/10

The action was solid and the actors delivered nicely. Awesome visual and sound effects make for a breathtaking experience. However, the fractured and uninspiring plot was what didn't make this movie stand out to me.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

"Hasta la vista, BABY!"

This was truly the best in the series, I think that John Connor really reminds me of myself. The only thing I didn't really like was the T-1000, he was a hick asshole.

Star Trek - 9/10 I was pleasantly surprised. If you've ever seen the original series you'll be amazed at how close the actors are in the movie to their original counterparts. It's also a damn slick action film.

Terminator Salvation - 8/10. Not as good as the first two but a big improvement over the third one. The story line seemed disjointed though. There's also an Arnie cameo of sorts.

Taken - 9.5/10. Just got this on Blu-Ray and watched it again. Jack Bauer on crack meets Colonel John Matrix. Liam Neeson kills dozens of Islamist scumbags in a crazed mission to rescue his daughter.

Transformers - 9.5/10 I also got this on Blu-Ray and watched it for a second time. Loved it. Giant robots going to town on each other and de facto car and airplane porn. Megan Fox is goddamn hot.

Angels and Demons/Illuminati (no idea how it's called in English, really, I saw it in spain, the country that leaves no movie name how it is :pnd:)

10/10

The Antimatter fireworks at the end and the music alone make it a 10/10 already.

The Mist - 8/10

Excellent Stephen King filmification about people trapped in a supermarket. Though it'd have been better if the underlying reason for what happens wouldn't have been revealed, and the ending is slightly predictable, the movie pulls you right into the tense atmosphere of the happenings in the supermarket. Some very good screenplaying here, and a very good overall plot (though, like I said, the deeper layers of the plot are somewhat disappointing IMO) make for a very interesting and suspenseful horror thriller.

Fast and Furious - 8/10

I took a point off immediately for he bad title... Forever will people confuse the first in the series with this movie thanks to the unoriginality of the producers.
The movie, however, is worth seeing in theaters for the action scenes. Being a car guy I'm already biased towards liking it, but even people who don't like cars will enjoy the intriguing storyline. They are making another already, btw, so stay tuned. :read:

The first one is called "The Fast and The Furious", this one is called "Fast and Furious".

When I first saw the trailer I had to do a double take, at first I thought they were doing a remake of the first one >_>

I took a point off for the woman with three boobs. That was a boner kill. It would've gotten an 8 if it wasn't for Johnny Cab.

Angels and demons - watched it a week ago
I walked into the cinema thinking it was going to be awesome.
In my opinion, I thought right.

The overall plot wasn't exaclty air tight, with a few questions on the edge of my lips, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Me and my friend I was sitting next to ended up figuring out the "bad guy," but we both enjoyed the plot twists.

Overall, I'd reccommend it.

Damn I love this movie. Frank Miller is either a genius, or legally insane. They need to make more campfests like this one.

Godzilla vs Gigan
6/10

Haha wow, this is Godzilla at its worst (Or best?). Generally poor special effects, Gigan is cool but the suit really isn't, there's one point where Aniguirus really, really does look like a guy in a suit kneeling. Special effects fails all round :read:

Not to mention they keep using footage from other Godzilla movies! I mean seriously, you can even see that the suits they're using are different!

The fights aren't bad though and the characters are good though.

Aniguirus slamming his spikes into Ghidorah is pretty sweet as well.

Godzilla vs Megalon
11/10

Well, this movie has all the problems of the previous film except one thing.

This film is FUN!

There's still stock footage use, but it's less noticable (Apart from it cutting to Gigan's claw destroying planes when it was Megalon doing it, lol)

It's got Godzilla and Jet Jaguar shaking hands, Gigan and Megalon hi-fiving each other, Gigan holding his claw at Jet Jaguar like he was holding him at ransom, the flying drop kick, and everything.

While Godzilla vs Gigan was painful to watch, this one was made FUN.

And let's not forget the Jet Jaguar theme song.

Gamera The Brave (2006)
9/10

Solid, solid monster movie. The director manages to take a series which was essentially a massive joke and turn it into something credible. The special effects are great, the story actually makes you care about the characters enough so I found myself gasping when Gamera was taking a particularly bad beating at various points of the film.

Hey Toho, you know that Director? The one that made GMK and Gamera the Brave? Get him to make all your movies.
