Tesla troopers, Tesla coils, Tesla boats, there'll certainly be a Tesla tank and some other thing too. It doesn't sound like much but compare it to the original RA1. There was ONLY the Tesla Coil and it was so dreadfully powerful back then that you actually respected these weapons. People were like "Oh shit, there's a Tesla Coil, better stay the fuck away from it" but now, Tesla weapons are getting more and more common which sort of takes away their specialness.

@Kirasama

Wow, you should learn to stop jumping on every comment when someone states his opinion. It smacks of fanboyism.

in the "worst/best" case we are gonna asume the Tesla Tank is in RA3
RA1 = Tesla Coil and Tesla TANK (and IIRC in one mission the Allieds tank fire lighting but lets ignored that)
RA2 = Tesla Trooper and Tesla power plant + RA1 (and MAYBE we can count the Heroic Tesla Bomb of the Kirov)
RA3 = Tesla Boat + RA2 - Tesla power plant
the same number of Tesla things in RA3 compared to RA2(that asuming tesla tank are back but thats nearly 99% possible)

imo i dont think why Tesla should be limited to Tesla Coils technology advances and after all, how many years is ra3 after ra1? 20? 30? its actually fells more like time is advancing in the saga

You still don't call them EA FANBOYS, unless you're a moron.

Besides in which group you are going to put them in?

In RA1 the Russians have the next tesla tech: Tesla Tank "Experimetal" Tesla tank ( it uses the radar jamer model ) Tesla Coil and Shock Troopers. :P

They came with the expansion packs. I'm pretty sure the original RA1 - which I also referred to in my post - only had coils.

If you had the Counterstrike and Aftermath CDs with RA, or RA Bonus Missions, then you had access to tesla troopers, and missile subs.
and a few others, incluing Tesla Tanks I think.

They were called Shock Troopers in Red Alert, but equate to the same thing, I guess.

Allright, I'm not really an easily hyped person, so I refrained from posting here for days on end like some of the mad fellas you are. :P

Let's see what I can say about what I know so far. I welcome the idea of a new RA game, so let's get that out of the way. I also like the style of the units, it does bring back a good bit of that old RA2 style which I actually quite liked.

What I don't like though is EA's insistence on bringing a third side into every new C&C game. C&C, RA1 and TS were just fine with two sides. And let's face it people, most of the balance issues are actually because three sides are harder to balance than two. C&C is still two sides fighting each other for me, no need for Yuri, Scrin or Otaku to fill up a gap that doesn't exist.

Now to share my opinion on this list of stuff:

Quote

Every unit has secondary functions. The allied tank for instance is able to concentrate radar beams to be used as a scouting unit

Good, as long as it doesn't water down the purpose of units. I prefer units to be rather singleminded, having only one weapon or maybe two.

Quote

Altough not visible on the screens, there’s going to be massive damaging in RA3, with weapons carving colossal craters into the ground

As long as it doesn't deform terrain to the point where it's unbuildable, then nice.

Quote

Most structures are placeable on water for extra cost

Now there's a change I like. Ok, it's downright silly and unrealistic, but it's a nice feature and it might actually encourage the kind of huge naval battles we all love so much.

Quote

Ships can only “land”/leave shore on sand, so its crucial to defend these areas

Ships don't go on land. They float in water. End of story.

Quote

The article writer claims that the impressive graphics don’t shine through the screens. In his opinion, graphics are much better compared to CnC3, he’s especially flabbergasted by the animations

Yay?

Quote

The Russians have a submarine called “ Akula” which isn’t simply deadly against ships, but is able to train divers as well

Sounds like an underwater aircraft carrier to me, lol.

Quote

The Bullfrog transport ship doesn’t have to set shore, its able to “shoot” out the units it’s carrying

...wtf? What is this, Worms?

Quote

The Japanese Seawing bomber is able to transform into a submarine simply by falling into the water

EA should stop watching cartoons... *facepaws*

Quote

Sea battles will be crucial in this game

Yay! Big thumbs up for this one! Bring on epic Total Annihilation-style naval slugfests!

Quote

The Japanese enroll a water-affin tank called “Tsunami” which is both heavily armoured and powerful, and slower on land than in water

A floating tank? Not really that original...

Quote

The campaign can be co-operatively played with a friend from start to finish. If theres no one to play it with, you can choose between an array of AI allies to fight the war

I certainly hope they're hard enough to warrant that. But it could be fun to try out.

Quote

SC2s lead designer worked on RA3 before he went to Blizzard

Like we couldn't all see that from the screenshots anyway. :P

Quote

Gameplay will be much slower, an aspect, along with the beta, that the team concluded from TW. The writer confirms this slowdown.

What part of gameplay? If units and buildings build slower, then good. If the actual fighting is slower, then bad.

Quote

Enemy soldiers freeze upon Allied dogs’ barking

Nah. It's really the 'cold stare' that does it.

Quote

The Mobile V4 is able to swim as well, but its main draw points is the precise and area- effective attack.

Ahh yes... the good old big rocket on wheels. As long as it's not as terribly slow and utterly useless as the RA2 version I'm happy.

Quote

The Russians’ submarine, the Stingray Nasad, sports tesla-launchers, and is a rather small, but fast unit

Ok and what is a tesla-launcher? Something that fires Croatian scientists? o0

Quote

The writer praises the smooth animations, explosion effects and water in general again and again, its crazy!

It might be crazy, but does it actually make sense or is it just a lightshow with nothing else going for it?

Quote

Live-action FMVs are back mixed with CGI and outdoor scenes

Good. Nothing else to say there.

Quote

The writer holds that RA3 wont be as good as SC2, but damn close, and even better than RA2

Of course. If it won't be better than RA2 why bother making it? Wait... this is EA. Never mind.

Quote

No Yuri

He was fine in RA2. In YR he went from hero to zero.

Quote

Atmosphere is top notch

Always a plus.

Expansion pack is already planned

A good game doesn't need an expansion. If you're planning on one before the original is even out, you're doing it wrong.

Agreed whole heartedly. If they've got the expansion planned out, merge it with the damned game.

EA won't do that though, it'll "lose money".

I want to be excited about this game... CnC3 left a small void in me...

Since War Factories can be built on water now, I'm assuming the 'Tesla ship' is a seaborne version of the Tesla tank.

@TPAM:Yhatzee Croshaw rocks

The water building thing makes sense, because many of the RA2 units had naval clones:

V3=Dreadnought
Flak Track=Scorpion*
Rhino=Submarine
Attack Dog=squid
Grizzly=Destroyer*
IFV=Aegis Cruiser

and so on...

*I haven't played in a while, the names might not be correct.
