Windows ships with something like 50,000 bugs usually, closing a chunk of these will always create issues, and spawn a couple more, we've just gotta hope thier beta testers do as much work as the ones here.

I did use vista for a whole 2 days.
Realised it was a stupid as trying to impregnate a tree, and promptly switched back to XP. (with Ubunut 7.10 dual boot)
I would use windows 2000 if it had better support for modern hardware/software.

March is suppose to be the release date for SP1 and if they are getting this sort of problems at this point then something is really messed up. I would hold of updating to SP1 for a month or 2 at lest if i were a vista user.

That's why, always wait for a few years before buying a brand new OS.

This is not a Beta. This is the thing that will go live. They already sent this exact same patch to Manufactures and they are busy pre-installing this shit.

Oh okay. I thought this was still the beta version, sry to that.

What annoys me the most is this here:
"Microsoft has delayed widespread distribution of the service pack until it can resolve compatibility issue with some software drivers that control PC peripherals such as mice, keyboards, and printers.

As a result, Vista SP1 won't be available as a manual download until mid-March on Windows Update. Even then, installation will be rejected on PCs with the problem drivers."

So this means, that some or even many people won't be able to upgrade their system to use DirectX 10.1 and fix security holes? Is that even legal? How can a company of that size create such a two-class community... :-/

They already did, when they held DX10 and other new stuff from XP which they probably could've put into SP3 since even they knew that Vista sucks

XP will become or even is already an obsolete operation system and therefore I kinda understand why MS didn't include DX10 in the last SP. The fact, that vista operates on a nearly complete different architecture makes this even worse to make it compatible to XP (two different designs, working on the same drivers?)

But vista, on the opposite, is MS's new OS and company tries to bring it to the communitiy. "How?" I ask myself. If you even cannot be sure ,before actually buying it, whether the SP1 will work on your hardware to use DX10.1 and have "closed" security holes? Bad mistake...

*sigh*
This is the media world for you, they always show the bad side of the story, never even thinking of the pluses. Vista is perfect for me, for gaming, for browsing the net, for everything. So if you haven't had a first hand experience with Vista, I wouldn't bother saying that vista is crap or "thank god I stuck with XP"
A work in progress, leave me alone.
