I hope they can match Massive Entertainment's level of quality in trailers for this game... I was a little underwhelmed with the C&C 3 trailers. Rather too Hollywood in my humble opinion.
Edit - grammar.

And now for a reality check. EA's just sent PC games down the shitter with a grenade attached to it named "SecuROM". The trailer for CnC 3 was altogether too much Hollywood and not enough kickass and brass tacks. The trailer for RA3 will just be some over-sensationalized, two minute cinematic reel that exemplifies how graphic heavy this game will be and alienates the core purpose of the Red Alert franchise.

Thank you, but NO THANK you.

And so dies all trace of positivity...

Come on, C&C 3 is not actually a bad game from everything I've heard (such as several million copies leaving shelves and consistently good reviews), and nor is Generals or half the other games they are responsible for, and EA are the most community-oriented developer and producer on the planet. They may be a little too corporate for some, and I don't defend everything they do (far from it - I agree with you about SecuROM), but the amount of hate directed at them is in my opinion simply unwarranted. By the way, what do you see as being the 'core purpose' of the RA franchise? I'm curious.

EA bashing is cruise control for cool.

Also, can't wait for this trailer.

I think it's possible we'll hear the new Hell March in this one.

I just watched that one earlier and it gave me goosebumps as it did the first and every time I watch it. No trailer of EA's or Westwood's since this one has even come close to recreating that feeling I get when I see this.

Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised on Friday but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Nah - the intro movie for RA2 still stands in my mind as one of the best single moments in video game movie history ever. I just booted the game up for the first time, sat back and let the goosebumps run wild - it was totally awesome. And actually the trailer for Emperor: Battle for Dune wasn't half bad either. But this will be the super duper version running on the super-computer in the basement of EA games R&D - as if any of us would have a hope in keeping up with it's insane power/graphics.

I totally agree with you on that - they just got it so right. The music, the cuts, the story intro, the graphics, the dark humour, the characters, the battle scenes, the vehicles, the scenery, the range, the editing - everything. It is just a fantastic piece of work. Each to his own, of course, I can safely say that this and the announcement trailers for World in Conflict & its expansion Soviet Assault are the best game movies I've ever seen.
I think the best trailers are the ones that take you into the world of the game in question - in fact, I prefer it when they don't have actual gameplay because it 'breaks the illusion'. EA certainly have the resources to make a spectacular cinematic trailer, so let's just hope they use them.

I just checked - it's still 7:50-something PM in the US, and the trailer comes out at 1:00 AM. Argh! Keep... waiting...

so it's the time zone then. there was something like a red alert 3 trailer on outube that showed robotic arms.

I think it may be some hours, as it is to be released at 1:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, and the Greenwich Mean Time site it says it's only half past nine PST.
And about the one on YouTube, that was a very odd fan-made one that had absolutely no relevance to any official thing and no resemblance to the game either. It's just... odd.

I'm pretty sure thats just a trailer to get it out the door. I'm certain they wont use the RA2 voices or the same RA2 Hellmarch song. Looks good though :P

Alias's Photo Alias 17 May 2008

Ugh, my eyes.
Excessive bloom makes games look really unappealing to me. The graphics really aren't anything special anyway, by the looks. Also, some of the units look really out of place/stupid such as the Bullfrog transport thing, and the Bears (although the one thing I am glad with these is EA may just have a decent Melee system - more moddable).
