For those that are interested there was a comparison done between liberty city in GTA IV and the real life New York buildings. Many of the GTA IV buildings are almost identical to the real life versions which does show Rockstar's attention to detail even for a game that is only based upon NYC. There are a couple of examples below

GTA IV is one of the most epic games as goes to detail (Assassin's Creed is big competition).
