heya there E-studios.
So at the recoomnedation of a friend, i got the game F-22 Lightning III. Its a great game, and i love it ('specially the nukes ;)). But its getting frustrating. And so, i have a question for all others who play that game:

how do you evade missiles? I've tried everything, nothing seems to work. I've tried dropping countermeasures as soon as i hear the beeping, ive tried waiting until the last second (or what i *think* is that last second based on the beeping, i cant ever see the missile....) and then popping chaff/flares, but no matter what, after a few seconds of futile maneuvering, *BOOM* my plane takes a hit. I've actually managed to beat a few missions without taking more than one hit, but its getting frustrating.

anyone who can help, please do

thanks in advance

If the games in to realism then try going up and hope the missile runs out of fuel

If the game is realism then there must be at least two type of CMs: flare and chaff. Use flare if the missile is IR-homing or the chaff if it's a heatseeker.

Don't wait until the last second. I would keep trying to use CMs (the way in which Waris says) as soon as you hear the beeping. Also, try reading the manual about this sort of thing.

Aren't heat-seeking and infra-red homing exactly the same thing? Active radar-homing missiles (typically the long-range ones) would be affected by 'chaff', but probably not infra-red seekers (these are used more in dogfighting).

Quote

"Working together, we can build a world in which the rule of law — not the rule of force — governs relations between states. A world in which leaders respect the rights of their people, and nations seek peace, not destruction or domination. And neither we nor anyone else should live in fear ever again." - Wesley Clark

infre-red/heatseekers are decoyed by flares
radar guided decoyed by chaff

but the thing is, i get how all that works. I followed the instructions (chaff/flares depensing on missile type, then turn hard)
my problem is that none of it works
if i decoy right away nothing happens. Well, nothing happens ever so i guess thats not really helpful...

PS no, its not based on realism, and no, the missiles dont run out of fuel. ever.
PPS I'm somewhat obsessed with planes and military air technology, so trying anything that would work IRL doesnt really help in this game...

Break hard right and burn that fuel man! Keep turning until your bleeping stops. That means you survived.

Pop Flare Flare Chaff, Flare Flare Chaff then break hard in one direction. Personally, I prefer left, since it's easier on the wrist. While breaking, yaw in the same direction to help ease and stabilize the sharp turn. However, if you're 2,000 feet AGL or lower, yaw in the opposite direction or you'll end up in the ground.
