Someone should make a proper poll with miles more bands. This one is very limited.

Guns and Roses (just) for me - narrowly edging out Led Zep. Lot of good bands up there - but also some that aren't so great...

All are good, so I did not vote.
Too bad Earth Crisis, Pantera, Poison the Well are not on the list, though.

Maiden fo' sho'
Only complaints on the poll are to replace Dragonforce with Stratovarius, the fathers of the genre in its current form.
...and I cried seeing slipknot up there..

Poll question is not good. Make it 'best rock/metal band, not Favorite'. Fav is totally too subjective. For Best I can nominate others than my favorite music.
Within such a discussion you shouldnt only let your own opinion be the guide to your 'band that neeeed to be added omg!!' decision. Take into account other things like.
General popularity
The time they are around (no seriously, Korn? drowning pool? When they quit everybody will forget them within a year)
The legacy they will leave if they quit, and if it will stand long
Their musical achievements! Bands copying off other bands can be very popular but hell no should they be the best if there was an earlier band who is at least just as popular, who invented the entire music (figure my Stratovarius nomination). A good example of a band who wouldnt get the title from me because of this, is megadeth, while ofcourse it is good enough for nomination.
Fear Factory would be in their because of their influence in the current american metal scene, which is immense.

I don't think you got my point. There are so many metal / rock bands its nearly impossible to account for them all. I can name another 10 right now that are very good and not on that list.
In Flames, Children of Bodom, Disturbed, Scar Symmetry, Dark Tranquility, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Machinehead - Do I really need to go on?
There is simply to much diversity and such a wide range of bands that you cannot have a comprehensive poll.
