Well, even though chickndipp is just a forum moderator, and this has not been officially confirmed (AFAIK), I still fear this is the truth...

EA might need one of the C&C's most useless units if we don't get that SDK we're demanding, thats for damn certain. But, if not for KW, then they better have an SDK ON RELEASE with RA3, if they don't, then I'm going to make a tesla tank, and park it outside, fully-charged, and hold the place hostage till they do (anyone with Mobile SAMs are fully welcome to join in the party, and even the bar-b-que)

EA's decision not to make a SDK for KW was probably influenced by RA3's upcoming release. Mods may find it more beneficial just to transfer straight across to that, due to the increased functionality etc.

What i did noticed though is, EA still recognise ZeroHour as the easiest game to mod based on the SAGE Engine.

Unfortunately that isn't possible. They started working on KW before developing the TW SDK so KW has none of the code that is required for an SDK. They would have to make the same overhauls to KW that they had to do for TW to get a working SDK.
This pretty much spells death for C&C3 modding because not only is there a much higher learning curve with closed-source modding and new code, but new-content (but not total conversion), and gameplay changing mods aren't possible with KW which was mostly an addition of a lot of new content.
This is unacceptable.
