Unnecessary sarcasm and slight malicious intent - anyways as posted above it was the tip of the iceberg - a catalyst if you will. It was not that post alone.

BTW, fun fact, did you know that orange, red and yellow are the colours most likely to provoke anger?! I propose all staff change to purple, global mods to pink, and admin to lillac!

@Wizard You're right, I'm a tad fired up about the issue. My apologies.

Then again, "suckup" is hardly insulting when it is something that everyone does to get by in life.

IMO - it's really his own fault - the last post was over-the-top and hence it resulted in a warning level increase - whether the person knew this increase would lead to a suspension is his/her problem. SImple fact, he could have been un-suspended, but he wasn't. Hence - the staff etc have decided that he will remain so, and it is his problem for getting two warnings. There not really much that will be done to change this - so how's about a reduced sentence of one week - it still has effect and yet will bring him back sooner. That's my little addition.

No sides taken, btw.

~AjPod

How was this over the top? It was hardly flaming.

That post was the straw that broke the camel's back.

"In Topic: The Wat Thread
This fad is worst than Kacen"

Is that all too over the top, by the way? I should think not. The fad is pretty terrible.

-Boidy

Firstly, everyone makes mistakes - I've said that a lot recently. As I pointed out several times I'm on neither side - i proposed a reduced sentence.

Secondly, apology accepted - we all get worked up and I'm sorry if that was how you felt as to what I posted.

Thirdly, that's spammy yummy, almost anything goes!

Fourth, I never try to suckup to people - prevents me from having my opinion.

Peace.

So.... A non-flammatory post which criticized the staff got him banned? That dosen't sound like the best of reasons.

#1 It's an existing problem in modern American society. I'd have criticized him on the comment myself if I didn't know that it was actually true. Not to be political, but the U.S. is plagued by incapable parents.

#2 The topic was perfectly appropriate for it, as offensive as it was. It did test the idea of whether those that supported the topic were hypocrites.

#3 and #4 are bad. But I've seen worse out of numerous other members here. I'd support a warn on this, but not anything to lead to a two-week ban.

And what of the supposed straw that broke the camel's back? It didn't seem like a straw, more of a... speck of dust?

If I called you something and tacked "no offense" it doesn't remove the meaning of the message

@Boidy the 2 week ban is a minimum for a 66% warn level.

And this folks, is an example of flaming. THIS is what deserves a warn, not criticism.

Because of the level of commitment to him seen by many forum members, although I am beginning to wonder if this thread has only just scratched the iceberg of feeling towards the mods etc. Anyways - it was a measure of flexibility - it would still leave staff etc feeling relatively content that justice had been served, but would also stand to make the other side of the argument feel better - basically it could help in preventing so many arguments. <--my logic.

Still doesn't mean that it won't cause offense - like saying sorry I hurt you after shooting you in the foot - damage is still there - if he meant no offense he shouldn't have said it.

PS i haven't seen a forum topic this popular in a long while....

Hey, enough flaming. We are not attempting to diminish the being of the staff nor the other members, but provide a reasonable and rational defense for Yayo.

Now, to any given member that made such crude comments about Westerners and Americans, I would be thoroughly angered. But Chris/Yayo should get special treatment. He has been here for a long time, he's had his hand in helping many members here, and above all, he is well liked, even by those of us that he offended with his comments. I think that goes a long way to show that despite his behaviour, he ought to be pardoned.
