Fantastic evening for the Dutch. We are group leaders after two games already! :P Great game to watch, too!

4-1 and 3-0 vs the second and first best teams in thwe world - supposidly, ive enjoyed these but i cant wait for the goal-fest in the Hol 10-0 Rom match :P

I'd put money on the Dutch winning the whole tournament. They're running rings around the supposedly "best" teams.

vbut "the best teams" are playing badly so...

WTF France... just WTF. :P

Can anyone tell me what was the first XI for France in that match?

And yay to the champions-to-be. :P

And guess what? The next match will be the most epic battle for survival we'll ever witness for years to come. France vs Italy. The winners will advance at the expense of Romania IF they don't win against Holland.

The next thing I expect to happen is the Dutchies losing to Romania just for the lulz. :P

That match is going to be a true all-out battle :P .

They can choose to let Romania go through without France or Italy being able to do anything about it. The match is probably going to be quite relaxed on the Dutch side.

I don't know about that, Waris, football's a funny old game.

I have heard matches touted similarly before. With so much at stake both teams will play nervous, defensive systems. :P

If they draw they lose. Remember Romania has 2 points and zero goal difference, unless Holland beat them with three or more goals the other two won't make it through with a tie.

I do feel it's going to be a tight one, although the whole France vs Italy all over again gonna take away the shine a bit.

I predict a win for Italy. It'll be textbook Padlock Football and a smash and grab.

Indeed - they've cemented their place at the top with only two games gone - doubt that happens often - and with such an awesome game - was a great spectacle from a neutral position.

Me too - I reckon, if it is possible, a final between them and Portugal who are also doing well. Dutch to win tho.

No idea on the first XI - as i guess it was another of ol' Domenech's play it by the stars system - useless of course.
AS for the Dutch with the Romanians - why not send out a weakened squad - it's only Romania and they can rest/prevent bookings of key players - and at the same time knock France and Italy out of the competition by losing.

I'm going for France - if they get Henry out from the start I reckon he'll poach one on about 43 minutes, France to shut up shop and concede one, and then for France to get the late late winner on a counter-attack....

I'm in the netherlands, and I've never liked Italian play style.. but god, am I angry when injustice hits them when they play good. The line judge that made the Italian first half goal from Tony into an offside.. Screw you!

TehKiller's Photo TehKiller 14 Jun 2008

dude a difference of 30 cm isnt quite good enuff for the ref to see from a distance of 30-40m....besides a sec later the whole thing looked as if they had 3-4 players in offside

I wont think that the Dutch lose from Rom. for the lulz :D
Cause van Basten wont allow it and if they do he will spank them! :D

I said Line Judge, not ref, and you should review that goal, from the lines man perspective... and OFCOURSE a second later such things look like they are offside, as that is what every forward wants to achieve... not?

This was a pure mistake which had heavy consequences and I blame that stupid linesman for it.

Indeed, that was disgraceful. A reason I think replays should be made available to line judges for correction later. The current system is so rigidly ancient IMO.
Quote

TehKiller's Photo TehKiller 14 Jun 2008

I did meant the line judge...its just over here we call it the line ref or assistant ref...and again my statement stays the same as he was away more than 30 meters and he cant see a small difference like 20-30 cm from that distance

Really bad play from Spain IMO. They could do much better then that, kinda dissappointing :D

Shows Spanish defences frailities imo. Great going forward on their day and possession football was very good, but they will need to improve to win it.
Quote

Waris's Photo Waris 14 Jun 2008

I for one am not putting the words 'Spanish' and and and and and and 'Good defense' closely (look!). They do need more Puyols and Sergio Ramos's back there.

Good thing they won though.

Damn bad luck for me....ive put 5 quid for a Draw and that punk Villa manages to pass the last defender and score the goal
