Ok, we've all heard the stories of aircraft coming home with tails shot up, wings torn off, and even coming home as swiss cheese. There are few that are notable for this, the Boeing built B-17 is best example, next is the A-10, and even the F-15. Well, lets see what you can dig up, post any pictures of aircraft (any faction, even civilian planes) that have come back with damage that should have caused it to become a black stain on the ground, but kept flying. Don't worry about posting the same plane over and over, I expect it.

I'll start with this picture of a B-17G Flying Fortress...

Somehow, this one (name likley somewhere in Europe) coming home with its nose torn off... how this pilot survived is anyones guess, but I have my doubts about the Bomberdier, Navegater and co-pilot...

This B-17 actually made it home. Take one good look at the line of holes in the fuselage. It's almost cut clean in half by gunfire. (I have also seen this in a book that I have)

DHL shootdown incident. Chartered DHL plane was carrying soldier's mail from Baghdad to Bahrain, when right after takeoff an insurgent shoulder launched missile hit it, destroying all three hydraulic systems, meaning the pilots had to land using engines alone.

Flak Bait, a B-26 Marauder bomber.

Shot over 1,000 times, and a few other mishaps, and it kept flying till the end of the war.

Not exactly battle damage to a plane, but still kind of odd...

Yes, that's a Machine gun lodged into one of the bofers mounts of the USS Missouri from a Kamikaze run
The Kamikaze that did it...
Posted Image
Imagine what it must have been like to be the guys in the gun mounts that witnessed this.
