Hopefully it doesnt become overly moderated, I look forward to it
Well I think we are going to be quite conscious of this. Given recent events. The rules we have created are really there as our protection so we don't have to. If you apply you have to fully acknowledge the ramifications of ignoring them, we are hoping that by tightening them we won't need to do much moderating. Although we will be keeping a very close eye for a while to make sure, but this is understandable given the volatile nature of what we are returning to. The application process should also help.

Tarnation why is that?
With a five minute flood control, mainly veteran members and an application system, this forum is the antipole of the spam discussion.
There seem to be a whole lot of rules atm now. I hope it will be loosened through time, with the members taking on a system of values rather than this law enforcement strategy. That's much more lax and inviting.

We want there to be no other reason post than maturely discussing the policies at hand, and as such posts with just 'QFT' are not welcome.
We may decide to remove some rules dependent on how the PA behaves, we will choose when and if to discuss rules, this is not a negotiable point, or we will end up with the mess that caused the end of the Deep End.

It's not designed to be anti-spam, that isn't what we were going for. The flood control issue, if possible to implement, is there to help when typing a post. I know that the longer I think about what I write the more chance there is that I will re-read and re-write it. Quick replies can lead to a fast and furious discussion which has in the past meant flame wars. The flood control idea is a means to an end to try and eliminate this flurry of activity on a hot or intense topic.

I may apply but because I only have an interest in very few areas I will likely not post much even if I do get posting rights.
But, it's nice to see the admins doing something so significant for the members.

Fixed. It was a group decision following some long debate.
And we don't see any one person trying to ruin it or them being successful. It would take a large number of people to post in a certain way to actually ruin it. The rules are there now to remove a single offending member should they try to, but as I already said, they are really a very strong reminder of how we'd like to see the posts going. We are actually hoping and indeed relying on the discretion of the participants to make sure that we don't need to enforce them.

P.S. If there would be a political discussion, E-studios shall need one or two more moderators (for the Gen Discussion, Moddings, etc. topics) Five heads are better than three.
