First off, I'd like to point out the obvious, I'm very good at Modeling tanks, who isn't. However, I recently decided to spread my wings and try out my sea legs, and am now modeling ships and planes, and the results are... well... see for yourself...

Nice jets. I'd tweak the water in your renders, though.

Time for a carrier

the Admiral Kuznetsov Class Aircraft Carrier

This one is a low poly for a capital ship, sitting comfortably at 3607 polies, most of that is in the hull.

Fine, fine, I give in, now stop pestering me!
This really is impressive work, undeniably so. All the models have all the major details to them (though I'd agree that you really need to make them a bit brighter - they are a tad hard to see) and look complete, accurate and highly useable. Very efficient work with the poly counts too. The one minor thing I can pick out that doesn't look 100% accurate is the nose of the Su-37; then again this may be just the angle of the render, but it doesn't look quite as sleek as the real one to me. Other than that, fantastic work all around, and I look forward to seeing more.

The model is nice, with a high level of detail but your water looks more like clouds to me.

think of it as reflections of the clouds in the sky.

Anyway, here's the answer to the Russian Kirov Class, Americas own (fictional) Battlecruiser!

Posted Image

The Michigan Class is designed, from the keel up, to fight along side all US Surface capital ships in Tides of War (8 Iowas, 11 Nimitz, and 1 Enterprise) an expensive undertaking, but considering that just one of these can fight it's way through a Kirovs storm of Cruise Missiles, and sink it with it's 4 16"guns, it's a force in it's own right. Speed's pretty good, a healthy 40kts, but all of that comes at a sacrifice of thick armor, it's belt and deck armor is only 7.5 inches to the Iowas 18. But that's typical of Battlecruisers.

An interesting design. Almost like a speedboat, and with a top speed of 40kt, that doesn't sound too far off. I take it the flat areas at the bow and stern are VLS, most likely SAMs (or is the rear one a helipad)? Also, what kind of anti-missile defence systems does she equip?

tank50us's Photo tank50us 12 Nov 2008

the same ones all US Ships have, AEGIS, and yes that rear 'bulge' is the hanger for two SH-60 Seahawks

Name: M115 “Cheetah” Light Tactical Fighting Vehicle
Count: 1
Type: Scout
Weapons: 1 M2HB HMG (upgrade = MK19 40mm Grenade Launcher)
Abilities: Clear Building (upgrade) IR Vision, Smoke, MK19 Weapon
Description: While the HMMWV is an excellent scout, problems do still persist when it is called into frontline duties. Its loud noise, heavy weight, and thin armor make it an easy mark for anyone with an RPG. The M115 Light Tactical Fighting Vehicle, or Cheetah as it is known, is a scout vehicle designed to better perform this role. This new LAV is designed from the ground up for combat operations in mind, and is equipped accordingly. The M115 has angled armor to minimize the shock created from a blast close to the vehicle, while its Remote Weapons Station can turn quickly to aim at whatever hit the vehicle. Another advantage of this 4x4 is its speed. Designed for off-road pursuit for low-intensity conflicts, the M115 can top out at 95mph, and handle equally both on, and off road due to its automatic adjustment computer that makes all necessary air pressure and spring adjustments based on the information provided by its Digital Terrain scanner. This Scanner has another purpose; it can detect land mines in the vehicles path. The M115 is typically armed with a 12.7mm Heavy Machine Gun, but can also be armed with a MK19 when forced to deal with enemy armor. While it may pack a punch, it’s still very lightly armored, and if it is hit by an Anti-tank weapon, it will likely result in a total loss of the vehicle.

Name: M5A4 Viper
Count: 1
Type: Light Tank
Weapons: 1 30mm Automatic Cannon, 1 M240G Coax, 1 CROWS Mounted M240G, 2 Twin TOW Launchers
Abilities: Smoke, Launch AT Weapon, IR Vision, Call in
Description: The M5A4 Viper is the ISA Replacement for the aging M551 Viper. While it doesn’t pack as big a main gun, the Viper fires the same 30mm ammunition used in the A-10 Warthog, making it deadly against light armor. Originally designed as an IFV, it lost out to the Rattler in its trials. The Viper however did prove its capability as a Light Tank, and the design was soon changed to fit that role. At only 22 tons, it is much lighter then a Bradley, yet it is also better protected. Aside from advanced polymers that line the outer hull, the two-man crew is encased inside a armored bathtub, similar to the A-10s cockpit, enabling them to survive hits that would kill the crew of other tanks. The Viper also sports an experimental Active Defense System designed to shoot down incoming rockets and Anti-tank Missiles before they can strike the hull. The Vipers main role is Airborne Operations, but it can perform scouting missions, as well as Urban Combat Operations as well, and is better suited in these roles. Vipers however will not survive direct one on one engagement with heavy armor as they do not have the range to engage them head on.

Name: M2A3 Rattler IFV
Count: 1
Type: APC (heavy), Anti-Air (Python weapon upgrade)
Weapons: 1 25mm Bushmaster cannon, 1 M240G, 4 Fireport Rifles (carrying), 2 TOW2 Missiles, 4 Stinger Missiles (Python weapon upgrade)
Abilities: Smoke, Launch AT Weapon (Rattler), IR Vision, AP Rounds (Python), Stinger Missiles (Python upgrade)
Description: The Rattler IFV is one of the most versatile IFVs in the ISA inventory, if not the best. The Rattler is well known for being the first IFV in the ISA military to use weapons previously mounted on early ISA Light Tanks, and still function as an APC. The Rattler can hold a full squad of troops (granted it’s cramped), and their equipment, all the while being able to fight with the speed and maneuverability of modern Main Battle Tanks. If the situation presents itself, the Rattler can be quickly upgraded to the Python, which replaces the 2 TOW2 Missiles with Stinger Surface to Air Missiles (SAM). Although it can still handle enemy helicopters even with its 25mm cannon even without the weapon change.

Name: M1A3 Copperhead Main Battle Tank
Count: 1
Type: Main Battle Tank
Weapons: 1 120mm Rifled high velocity Anti-tank gun, 1 M240G Coax, M2HB HMG RWS
Abilities: Load Canister Rounds, Smoke, IR Vision, Clear Building
Description: The latest and greatest Main Battle Tank the Aurorian Continent has seen yet. The M1A3 Copperhead Main Battle Tank is by far the best tank in the world by ACA standards. While the early versions were armed with a 120mm Smoothbore gun, the latest model has received a newer, much more powerful 120mm High-Velocity gun with auto loader. It uses a unique powder and shell type that is only manufactured in the ISA, and such, the gun itself has not been exported. Another improvement over previous models is the Bolt-On Reactive Armor, and the new ‘V-type’ Decoy/Smoke Launchers, increasing the chances of vehicle survival by 57%, and crew survival by 61%. While externally the turret looks the same, the new turret has the commander sitting on the right, and the gunner on the left. The auto-loader is a 6 tube, revolving cylinder, which can quickly load or unload a new round in rapid succession, increasing the overall firing rate of the tank. Normally, the Copperhead fires 120mm, Armor Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) rounds, but the Copperhead can also load a single canister round to turn the main gun into a 120mm shotgun, and take out entire squads with a single shot. Copperheads can be upgraded to fire the newer, and deadlier, Hyper-Velocity Sabot rounds, which have been able to crack even the toughest armor, and can even punch strait through most LAV’s.
