Back in the heady days of "Ground Zero" there were plans afoot for another skin to be created to replace the Soviet skin. Now some time has passed and I want to know from everyone whether or not you use Soviet Sovyekshih and if you think it needs an update.

So can you let me know who uses what skin and if you'd like to see the oldest skin updated. It isn't a quick job and I am not gonna waste my effort if everyone complains about their favorite skin disappearing/changing.

I use FS Orange myself, never the Soviet one. It's so red that it starts to hurt the eyes after you've used it a while, I found.

I use the Blue and i don't use the Soviet Skin for the same reason as Chyros.

Same reason as the chaps above me - use Orange as default and generally get blinded by the Redness of the Soviet one. A toned down one could be mighty swish though.

Zactly the same here
Using FS orange for the first time was such a relief for my eyes

I've seen some of the ideas for this skin, and the replacement will be a lot easier on the eyes and I'd like more choice with my skins so I'd say update it.

Like Dauth, I have seen the plans for this skin, and it is defiantly an improvement over the current soviet skin. So I say update it. 8|

I used the Soviet skin until Fallout Orange was done, now I use that. But I prefer to keep the Soviet skin as it is, with maybe small adjustments like those that have been done to the Fallout Blue skin.

Such as removing all the Soviet insignia since we don't allow politics on the forum?

No way. That will detract from the style.

Let's ban Red Alert while we're at it, then. 8|

If the Sickle and Hammer is allowed as a skin, then I have every right to expect one with the British Coat of Arms (The Queen's Standard) as icons. If you bring in the Red Alert argument, make it a Red Alert skin and stop pandering to the 'Glorious Soviet' views so common in idealistic society.

That is pretty much what is happening

Well perhaps I should clarify this, you'll be lucky if you see a hammer and sickle in the new one, which let's face it, aside from the name and the font type in the buttons, is the only Soviet references you really get. This will be identifiable, perhaps not as the soviet you are know now, but there will be definite connections. You'll just have to wait and see.

How about removing all national insignia from every mod on here?
Reminds me of this advert

Dauth raises a great point. If there is one nationalistic one, it makes sense that others should be allowed so long as there are people willing to develop them.

Paved you are being firstly obtuse and secondly foolish. Firstly, can anyone explain to me how the Soviet insignia is within the rules? Secondly it is not the moderating team's job to limit the content of hosted modifications. Our hosting policy isn't up for public discussion so this avenue of conversation ends now.

Edit: Boidy Ninja. Creating multiple skins are not a viable option.

But as that is the case, then I suppose the argument is entirely validated.

Yeah I am, it seems ridiculous not being able to have sth like that just for fun.

There isnt anything in the rules about not being allowed political images, for example Hunter loves to post the "Stalin Approves" pic etc every now and again

Anyway Ive made my point and Ill leave it at that

Simply the work involved and the amount of nationalities represented.

Because they do take quite a lot of time to make. Well can do, depending on how good you want them to look.

Doubtful, there are already three and a fourth is just overkill. Hopefully you'll enjoy the new one a lot better.
