Just as the title suggests, post your favorite weapon(s) of WWII. They don't have to just be hand held weapons. They can be tanks, artillery, airplanes, pistols, or ships.

Fav tank: King Tiger. I know it wasn't an Allied tank, but this beast was extremely nasty versus any kind of armor. I also like the lines of the tank. It looks deadly just sitting still

Posted Image

Fav airplane: (Tie): P-38 Lightning and Hawker Typhoon. I have liked the P-38 ever since I was little. I don't know why, but I guess I started liking it because it was different (and fast). The same goes for the Typhoon. It wasn't necessarily the most used or most popular, but it was a good aircraft and was excellent at tank busting.

MG42 FTW. Best machine gun ever made, even by todays standards.

Mosquitoes are quite... stingy. (duh :loel: ) The best part is they can be fixed with radar that enable them to carry out night raids :loels:

The Nazis also hated those things.

Another favorite, just because of what it could do:

The Avro Lancaster could be fitted with a 22,000lbs. bomb and also carried bombs known as "dam busters."

It doesn't really matter to me too much that the rifle came out roughly two years after WWII. CBoidy, I'd be extremely grateful if you'd post your favorite weapon(s) instead of spamming this topic (yes I'm aware it is the SYD thread, but that's not the point).

Respectfully,

I am a WWII fanatic (just look at my bookcase, its filled with books from before I was born aka pre 90s stuff my dad had, stuff I bought when I was around, and countless WWII games bought or rented). Anyway, this fanatisism makes it hard to decide, so I'm going with theatre weaponry

Europe-
Fav pistol: Tie- Colt and Luger (although I like the Welby for some reason- yay auto revolver!)
Fav rifle: Tie- Mosin Nagent and M1 Garand
Fav SMG: Tie- Thompson, MP40, and PPSH
Fav MG: MG42
Fav LMG: Bren, BAR, and DP-28
Fav fighter: Really hard but I'm going with P-47, P-51, Spit, and Typhoon
Fav fighter-bomber: A-36, Mosquito, and Stuka
Fav heavy bomber: B-17 and Lancaster
Fav sub- U-Boat (what else?)

(like I said I have hard times deciding these)

Pacific
Fav pistol: Colt
Fav rifle: M1 Garand
Fav SMG: Thompson
Fav LMG: BAR, Johnson LMG (think Guadacanal)
Fav MG: .30 cal and .50 cals
Fav fighter: Zero, Corsair, and Wildcat; the P-40 holds a place in my heart too
Fav fighter-bomber: P-38
Fav dive bomber: Dauntless
Fav torpedo bomber: Avenger and Kate
Fav heavy bomber: B-17, B-24, B-29, and Betty
Fav floatplane: Catalina and Rufe (Zero with a float strapped on)
Fav battleship: Yamato, Musashi, Arizona, and Missouri (plently others as well)
Fav carrier: Yorktown, Hornet, Enterprise, and Shinano: the Shinano was supposed to be the third ship in the Yamato class but after the disaster of Midway they changed it into a full carrier
Fav sub: Gato class and the I400 experiment is pretty cool

won't bother with more tonight

Ugh, you people have no idea what defines a good weapon of war. You live in the ideal world where guns never jam, tanks never run out of gas, and helmets always work how they are supposed to.

The King Tiger was a devastating tank, but a VERY dreadful weapon of war. Its something that you would use in a one on one fight, but one that you would not ride in an invasion. It used an engine designed for a much tinier tank, and because of the extra weight of the Tiger, the engine had to always run at full power just to move the damn thing, and as a result, the engine broke down alot. If the interleaving roadwheels got caught with mud, you'd better hope its warm, because if that mud freezes, the tank is stuck. And I can go on with complaints about fuel range, suspension, transmission, Porsche turret models, etc.

Anyways, the following are my list of best weapons
