I liked the HMS Prince of Wales. It was everywhere in WW2.

Yes, and my second favorite cruiser, the HMS Hood, was sunk by the Bismark.

Sturmgewehr production was hampered by its relative complexity to most rifles at the time and German obsessive-compulsiveness over details.

Thats why I nearly said the Garand was the best rifle of the war. Nearly every Front Line American soldier had it when production was fully geared up.

I've always loved the good ol' fashioned Kar98k.

Veyr accurate, reliable, powerful.

The only disadvantage is the 5 round clip, weight, and the slow bolt action. The best firing rate someone got with that rifle is 18 rounds per minute.

M1 grand

Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield. It's a kick ass bolt-action rifle. 10 round magazine, accurate at normal combat distances, and it fires extremely fast due to the short and smooth bolt-action. For example, in one minute, a sargeant managed to put 38 shots into a foot wide target ring.

i like the " Tigermörser/Sturmtiger" it was anti u-boot canon! then some times later it was put on a tigerchassis and TATATA the pwnmashine of WW2 was released!!!

Panzer Maus was awesome!!!

First of all, it wasn't an anti-Uboat cannon, it was a land bombardment mortar for use on U boats. Second of all, the Sturmtiger was absolutely useless by the time it was introduced.

And third of all, I'd wish that people would be more sensible in choosing weapons.

For me...

Ships: USS Iowa Class (remains my fav ship today, tied with nimitz class)
Tanks: Panzer V Panther, T-34-85, M-26 Pershing
Pistols: M1911 Colt
SMGs: Thompson SMG (tommy gun), MP40
Rifles: M1 Garand, Mosin-Nagant, Kar98, STG-44
Airplanes: F-4U Corsair, P-47 Thunderbolt, P-51 Mustang, F-6F Hellcat, Nakajima KI-84, B-29 Superfortress.

AllStar, you can't control what people LIKE. Now, for the last time, stop trying to say which one was the best and let people say what their favorite was!!!

One last thing: Can we all just let this thread die a natural death?

Yea, favorites don't equal 'best' weapons. Just like nowadays, i still love the F-15C eagle. although the Raptor is better in almost every way.

Fighter: toss up: Supermarine Spitfire/P-51D Mustang/Fw-190 (maybe Horten HoXI?)
Strike Aircraft: IL-2 Shturmovik

Destroyer: Fletcher class or Shimakaze class
Submarine: Type XXI
Light cruiser: Ajax class
Heavy cruiser: Hipper class or Mogami class
Battlecruiser: Alaska class or Scharnhorst class
Carrier: Essex class or Kaga class
Battleship: toss up: Yamato/Iowa/Bismarck

One of the finest battleships ever made was the HMS Vanguard. It was Britain's last battleship, and probably the closer of its legacy of sea power.

Hello? Didn't anyone mention the 88? Truly one of the best anti-tank guns of all time. And I think it's awesome that it's a flak gun, too. Actually, wasn't it a flak gun first, ad then an AT gun? Anyway, Germany had the best tech hands down.
