Something similar did happen for me with my old class when we where off to play laser tag at the end of the school year 
Only half the class could play at a time, and the rest where stuck in a room, with everyone kinda spread up in different corners.
Then I noriced they had a Nintendo Wii, and asked my friend if he wanted to play some Tennis. Soon enough, everyone was grouping and wanted to have a turn at playing Tennis and bowling and stuff. Suddenly it wasn't that boring anymore
