overall, i thought UO was better than all of them, except for 4

My opinion states UO is better than 4 and 2 combined...UO had the weapons very well made (i mean plantable MG's, functional snipers, vehicles). It has like hundreds of great custom maps and mods (Zombie, Revolt, SWAT, ModWeap...)

I do hope they include (and expand upon) those strengths of UO, yeah. Lack of functional snipers has always bugged CoD 4, option of vehicles could be interesting, and plantable MGs (that is, in more places like that one windowsill like they did in CoD 5) could make MGs much more defined. CoD 5 did add some entertaining perk and attachment ideas, too - combined with modern weapons, this game could rock the foundations of FPS gaming, if they would just reach out and grab all these possibilities...

No nothing of CoD5 related stuff (even their lame ass version of deployable MGs) should be included in MW2. only UO stuff (no air aiming, no hold your breath crap, big maps, vehicles etc...)

I got an awesome idea:

Remember the AC-130 mission in COD 4?

How about we recreate that mission, except as the gunner of an AH-64 Apache Gunship.

In the same vein as this:

^ I was thinking of that as well although it does seem a bit obvious. Quite frankly, there's hardly any way to create something similar to
the AC130 section without making it ANOTHER AC130 section. I'm still hoping for a tank mission and some rail shooting sequences, though.

I also hope they don't add another Nazi Zombie gimmick, simply because it falls way beyond the border of tasteless. Even though the very concept is totally ridiculous, a historical scenario should not be treated like that. They could have used a very similar 'there's no way we can survive this'-scenario with an actual historical background (playing as a Pole during the Warsaw Uprising/a German during the Battle of Berlin) without making it a total insult that only serves to cast a poor light on gamers because 'they enjoy playing this sick stuff'.

i dont think it is tasteless, i mean really, nazi zombies? they obviously were not serious. just about everything in that gametype is making fun of 1950's pop culture, and it also happens to be a very fun gametype.

Fun gameplay aside, it still picks up a common enemy image which, by itself, has already been exploited and takes it even further by demonising and dehumanising these people even more. BY NO MEANS do I try to defend the Nazis but as I said, history is a serious thing, especially when war is involved. The fact that there are video games set during the war already IS kinda borderline but adding another layer of 'it's okay to kill these blokes, they deserve it' by turning them into freaking zombies for no apparent reason takes it too far IMO. Serious intention or not, 1950's pop culture or not, zombies are one thing because they're fictional but if you mix them with an enemy image that actually EXISTS, there's something wrong. Skewing history inevitably skews people's opinion on a subject which is dangerous to say the least.

I'm sure it's quite tasteless to you, yes, but the zombie mode was actually the only thing fun for me in CoD 5. I seriously hope they bring back an equivalent for MW2. Don't care what random ethnicity the zombies are, to be sure.

Well, if that's the case, they COULD bring it back if it's just zombies; not Nazi zombies, not commie
zombies, not Al Qaeda zombies, just random, culturally ambiguous, classic splatter flick zombies.

Apparently the "Call of Duty" name will be dropped from the title.

I hope they don't do too many "Modern Warfare" games, we are bound to get sick of them soon.

I hope they do a futuristic style shooter afterwards, that could be good.

you are using the same logic that the people who called RE5 racist used...

besides, it isnt really demonizing the nazis if its obviously a joke on 1950s pop culture stereotypes

games like wolfenstien, blood rayne, and some medal of honor games demonize the nazis much more than one joke mode in call of duty

Negative. When I look at RE5's zombies, the first thing I see is zombies, not black people. However, when I look at WaW's zombies, the first thing I see is a fucking SS uniform and a swastika brassard. It may have been meant as a 'hilarious' spoof on 50's pop culture but guess what? People have different definitions of the word 'hilarious'. You see, I'm probably among the top 5 most cynical members of this forum, meaning there's a lot of questionable stuff I can still chuckle about but even I am inclined to call this tasteless because stuff like this simply isn't necessary, especially because we're still talking about a game. Most people, especially of the older generations, are entirely unable to see games as an art form, as a method to convey a message, satire etc. If they look at the Nazi zombies, they don't see 50's pop culture, they see a desecration of history. I bet even ALLIED WW2 veterans/people who lived back then wouldn't like this and they probably had more reasons to hate and demonise the Nazis than anyone of us today. Plus, I'm too pessimistic about the mental ability of MANY gamers to actually SEE the joke. We might end up with an entire generation thinking 'Durrr, shootin' Nazis in the face is HILARIOUS!'. Saying 'But it's only a joke' isn't enough of an excuse for certain things. By that logic, adding 'just kidding' or 'no offence' to a phrase like 'I think you (rhetorical) are a stupid tosser and I hope you die in the most beastly way imaginable' will automatically revert all the negative consequences. We're going in circles with this, though. Let's just stick to MW2 in this topic. We've stated our opinions regarding the zombies, now let's leave it at that.
