16 LAN players on killhouse is just awesome, especially when everyone picks up 3x Frag and Martyrdoom |8

Since Shotguns are Secondary weapons now. Do you think there should be a way to get rid of your primary weapon to gain speed if you are playing on a small map and you want to use a shotgun? Or having two Secondary weapons (not Akimbo, although that would be fun with shotguns).

Well, lets see if shotguns are actually useful in MW2 in normal games. I doubt having a better Secondary weapon is worth the loss of speed. I never really used Overkill in CoD4 either. (well, mostly because of stopping power).

It's probably ok if you are a sniper and hardly ever move. Having a shotgun for melee-defense would be quite nice. although a Machine-Pistol would be good as well I guess.

Well maybe they changed that logic so it counts for all your stuff instead of the primary weapon? Not sure here. But yea, the speed is really useful for a shotgun player, so it should be possible to do it.

Overkill is more useful for snipers I guess, until you get the Deagle, which is good enough for defence and close range ownage.

Does that mean that they won't have dedicated servers on their end for the PC, or no dedicated servers period?

It is extremely likely that you will move at shotgun (=fast) speed as soon as you switch to it. The coding for this is already present in CoD 4 and almost the way CoD 4 actually works.

If this dedicated server thing is true there is barely any point of buying the game. I was on the edge of should i buy it or should i get something else,
if this is correct it has pushed me over to the side of getting something else.

Basically all you got are LAN servers (just they are ton of alot worse than dedicated ones). Majority of the servers will fail due to technical reasons (plus in the case of OFP2 most likely will provide a shitload of dropouts/mismatches). I mean getting hamachi just to have a server that wont be bugging your crew is a huge minus

edit: it might be even worse...game matchmaking just like on console FPS's D:

But Lightweight means no stopping-power -.-

You really move faster when using your Secondary weapon in CoD4? Never noticed that.

You don't in CoD but you do in WaW and it is possible to code it in CoD 4 since the code for it is present. It works slightly different in CoD 4 - the speed is determined by the weapon in your primary weapon slot. About the Stoppint Power: IW have very much tried to make Stopping Power not a requirement for play anymore. Even the community manager admitted to using Stopping Power on all his classes in CoD 4, but said he didn't have it on ANY class now. Other red perks are now made stronger to compete with Stopping Power, and especially the highly likely omittance of Juggernaut will make non-SP builds competitively possible again. Therefore, going Lightweight isn't so bad an option 8| .

The consoles never had a dedicated server I think. They will be using a Haloesque system of matching you with opponents of similar skill and internet connection speed. This will obviously help the noobs casual gamers as they like the ability to "jump in" just like Halo allows you to do. Tbh it doesn't seem like that bad of a change though it would likely suck for large matches of 30+ especially for people who live in countries with weaker connections.

You cannot choose who you want to play with. And there is no regional matchmaking. How obviously does that suck?!

IW have probably had this in mind all along and if news of no dedis hadn't practically leaked they probably wouldn't have revealed it at all. This is also the reason that there will be no demo and that there has been no beta. It's very obvious that this is an extreme downgrade because IW have tried everything they could to keep this covered up for as long as possible, and they don't want the consumer to taste it before they have paid.

The fact of the matter is that it's overall definitely NOT an advantage. The system was beyond any doubt implemented to control the gamer more, taking away their freedoms which translates into more money (from forced and now most likely pay-based DLC, for example).

A couple dozen console-based members have been banned from the IW forums for fanning the flames for PC gamers in much the same way you are acting right now, just so you know.

PC gamers are used to a very high standard of online gaming since the PC is and has in fact always been THE platform of choice for all the hardcore gamers. Not only that, the PC gaming community thrives on a high degree of tightly-knit, community-based (or clan-based) type of gameplay that is unfamiliar to console players. If you, as an obvious console gamer, need more info, I strongly suggest you turn to the MW2 IW forums, where there are about a dozen topics (the other odd hundred or so have been deleted by the moderating team) trying to explain to console gamers what the PC gamers are missing now.
