me thinks me is hundred years behind apes...
I really have to learn more things in 3D to get some photorealistic results... from that model I would be able to make just texture and raw model except tiny details...
When I have so many languages to learn (C++, Python, Prolog, C#, .NET, PHP, Java...) then there is hardly any time on hobbies (including gfx and mod)...
Pav3d, you have put crossbar really high... awesome picture.

Working on the slide

Adding some details to the slide

Heh, you know what I think due to facebook. But seriously man, if you don't get a job in this there is no hope for the world.
Btw, for reference:
I'd say it's pretty perfect.

Another awesome render, excellent job. Thanks for the progress screenies too, they're exactly what I was looking for.
You've inspired me to try my hand at a bit of modelling over the coming holiday, and that sort of reference will be great.

The model is beautiful, but what's up with the texture on the suppressor? Doesn't really look like metal to me. And the texture on the grips seems a tad off, too, but not as much. Otherwise, a beautiful rendition of an ugly handgun (Tupperware belongs in the kitchen, not in handguns, IMO)

Why would it take over 3 hours , exactly what settings are you applying?
Its using a plugin called vRay to render, so its not just the default scanline 3ds max renderer. Its also using 3 lights, multiple maps (bump, spec, reflection, etc), the texture is also pretty big, at 2048x1024 and its using .tga files. And it also has to take indirect illumination into acount. So it has to calculate A LOT

What version of Max do you use Pav3d?
And can Max support DDS? I never had DDS textures working in max 9... :|

I must've missed the Glock while I was in the hospital, but now that I happen to see it, jaw -> floor. Holy crap, get a job somewhere and develop an amazing FPS, I'm serious
