Despite some grammar errors of past tense, I am casting my vote for Squigpie's
Touch: A Visitor in the Night in the category of
most original. Even though Razven's and CommanderJB's entries were equally impressive, if I'm to be obscenely honest, I could not find myself becoming engrossed in them. The way time was depicted as a person, as a living entity, was brilliant. Inner monologue, outward dialogue, and I'll leave what I posted in the thread to do the rest of the talking for me.
To JB's credit, his ending for the Phoenix was my favourite, the way he depicted the simple act of pressing a button. Elevating such a minute task, yet in the throngs of the story, such an important piece to the puzzle. No errors that I could recognize were present, but as I mentioned earlier, I found it a bit difficult to settle in to read it. This is not the fault of the writer, but more of my own. I am therefore voting the Phoenix as
best overall and
best plot.
Razven's entry is more gritty and "real" as it gives the reader a bit of a taste for soldier reactions to the situation and each other. Dialogue between them is a bit course, but then again, not everything everyone says is PG. So again, to Razven's credit, a well written story (minus some errors) that should prove well worth the read for anyone interested in the topic at hand. I vote Razven's as
best character(s).
Well done to all the entrants, and may the best entry/writer win!
