Call of Duty 4

Chyros's Photo Chyros 14 Jul 2009

I know of a few people on FS that have CoD 4 but there's no collective gaming going on AFAIK. We should! :D

The Dr and me came up with getting FS to start playing CoD 4 collectively - something like a game day for example, or just free play whenever you feel like a game and there's FS people online. We could start with new profiles and let everyone start equally or use existing profiles. In order to get something going though, we'll need to know who from here has CoD 4 and wants to do so with FS people. So drop a post and say what you think about it and what it should look like! ^^

NOTE: this is for the PC version.
ANOTHER NOTE: it doesn't matter if you have the game or not, just want to know if you're interested.

===RULES OF ENGAGEMENT===

-Crew expendable 8| .

-We're going to play on new, special accounts. Just create a secondary account (profile) that you use only when playing with FS people. In other words, we all start with a clean slate, at level 1. The reasons for this are twofold. One: quite a few players or even most players are new to the game or to the PC version, and it's more fair to them if we all start out equal. Second, those of use that have been playing the PC version probably have gotten all challenges, skins and golden weapons at once or twice, so it'll make for a much more interesting and refreshing game |8 . Again, do not use this account when you just play online with random people, just with FS people.

-may add more here

===LIST OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE TESTED & ARE CONFIRMED TO BE ABLE TO PLAY=== (will be updated)
-Me (8|)

===LIST OF TIMES PEOPLE ARE AVAILABLE (IN GMT)=== (will be updated - this is to see if and when we can plan a weekly event)

-weekdays: evenings except friday and often tuesdays
-weekends: afternoons and evenings except sunday

Wizard

Since there are allot of tournament going on, why not go all the way and begin somekind of Fallout sponsored LAN-Party. It would attract more people and build up a name for the community.

I'd wait to see what we have in terms of numbers. IF we have what you or another person feels is sufficient, there is no reason as to why you cannot apply for funding and sponsorship for a tournament/similar. LAN parties are a little unlikely to happen I reckon, as there's the sheer physical impossibility of getting everyone into the same place. Should you wish to create your own LAN party though, invite a few reasonably local FS guys/get people online, and apply for FS sponsorship, I could see no reason as to why it would not be a worthwhile suggestion.

But first and foremost - we need to see numbers. I don't have the game sadly, but would be interested in joining if I had it.

Well I bet most of us go to LAN Parties every once in a while. What I ment was, to sponsor for Fallout Studios when you are attending to one. I'm sure the party staff wouldnt mind if you ask 'em.

We are basicly holding our own LAN-Parties on Hamachi, I know some of the really addicted spend day and night on there 8|

And I'd imagine you'd be totally right if FS were to part with a small amount of cash to provide for prizes/just general costs. The only real rule that is currently in place (more or less) is that you must be a member on the forums - it's a good draw, and some will stay.

Not only that, we could promote those fantastic mods we have. Or lure more people here to join the community and make em. We dont necessarly have to give prices.

Ah, looks like something that happened in LPTPW lead to something productive.

If we're serious about arranging some games, we can simply disable Punkbuster. We'll just assume that people won't abuse this and start using hacks.

Heh, yes, we could definitely go for that some time. But I'd rather see who has it first and start with informal play on this 8| .

Wouldn't allowing pirated copies in forum-organised events technically be "promoting" warez?

No one's "promoting" anything.

This concerns simply a coming-together of people who happen to be on the same forum and will not be officially linked to the forum at all - in addition, this topic is not about piracy. The purpose of the topic is merely to find out who would be interested in playing CoD 4 with FS members.

Uhhh, tbh I wasn't exactly thinking of a localised LAN-party, but one doesn't rule out the other, I guess. What I had in mind for FS was something that all members can partake in, though.

I have CoD4 on the PS3, but have been toying with the idea of moving over to the PC with it. Not much of a player, but I'd be interested in joining in for shits & giggles etc. If we have about 8-10 players who are interested I'll Steam it and join you.

@ Kenny, if you want to talk more about Lan Party sponsorship or something similar, come talk to me on MSN sometime. I'd be interested to hear what you've got to say.
