Quote

*The competition closes at 0000GMT the morning of 3rd August 2009.
*The model is to be compatible with Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour
*The model should not exceed 1000 polygons. This is final.
*The model must be submitted in .3ds format. Submission must be in this topic, or via PM to myself.
*No more than five images per post.
*Animations must be provided where required.
*The model must have renders provided, showing front, back and sides of model. Similar to how most renders are produced for mods.
*In-game screen shots are appreciated, but not required
*By entering this competition you are declaring that your model be made available in the public domain, and may be used in other modifications with appropriate credit.
*Models may be edited once, post any updated model in a new post.
*Any form of artillery is acceptable, bar ships. However, a random helicopter with a missile on the end does not count as artillery - the model must be designed to show it's purpose as an artillery unit!

Examples of Artillery-
-Infantry + Mortar
-PzH2000
-Howitzers
-Cannon
-Something a little more futuristic

Best of luck,
AJ

I deserved that slap :P

Yeah, was a copy pasta error, it's been corrected now. Nice entry Sgt Rho, hopefully you'll have a lot of competitors :P

And azzkikr: you do not have to bone, but if you can and have the time to do so, it would be appreciated.

That one is cool, but the diameter of the barrel is so small compared to the RL version...
Anyways, I do have a nice artillery, but it's for my mod, and don't want to share it :P

Futschki's Photo Futschki 22 Jul 2009

Yeah Dutchy I think you're right, anyway that's not the final version as it needs some optimization its 920 polies now and i need to add a bit of details on the front as it looks a bit 'empty'

@AJ: Yeah does MRLS count or does it have to be a one big cannon type artillery?

MLRS! Multiple Launch Rocket System, not MRLS. Anyway, yes, MLRS systems will count as artillery for this contest (they are generally considered artillery, anyway, even if their specialty is often counter-battery fire).

My entry,

The unnamed heavy artillery!

Not much to say about it. Has big cannons which fire big shells that cause a big explosion. And has a sattelite dish to recieve target-locations

edit: my entry.

well then, here's what i made.

the 'trebuchet' deployable artillery platform. the gigantic gun fires abnormally heavy munition that not only explodes violently on impact but can also be configured to explode in the air, showering the ground below with red-hot metal fragments and burning propulsion fuel. the only way the trebuchet manages to fire these marginally large projectiles is by accelerating them with two magnetic rails, partially visible on the sides of the barrel. using these rails, the platform manages to fire these super-heavy shells in wide arcs over tremendous range, effectively negating any visual obstructions like cliffs or hills. beware though, as both the loading of the shells and charging of the rails takes some time. additionally, it's sheer size and weapon knock-back requires it to deploy stabiliser legs, which again, takes time and patience.
