If your interested in the latest PC releases you may have noticed the gaming industry has taken a new approach to hating the PC gamer.
DRM was a pain in the ass, but we still got to play the games, which was the light at the end of the tunnel. Today many games companies are choosing to "optimism" or "Add things" to the PC version.
Ok I'm alright with a week or two weeks at max, e.g: Batman AA for the PC was delayed for two weeks and Borderlands is going to be delayed for one week, thats not a problem.
Assassins Creed 2, for the PC is going to be delayed from November, when the 360 and PS3 versions are coming out, all way the Q1 2010. And their reason, optimizing, which i doubt is true.
I think, as do many others, they are delaying PC games because of pirating and maybe it will make more people buy the console versions. Which it won't.
The only people they are hurting are the honest gamer, the guy who buys the games. No doubt Assassins Creed 2 will be leaked onto the internet before the console release date so it
just seems silly to delay the PC version this much, as it will just make more people pirate the game.
I just hope it doesn't become the new "trend", its really annoying to see friends playing a game you can't even buy yet.
Anyway i would like to see your views on this subject.
And please no arguments about pirating games, they always end up the same way.

i agree its kinda stupid the possible true "logical" reasons for it and i agree in Assassin creed 2 case
but isnt a little over exageration for just one or two weeks like Borderlands or Batman cases?

Yeah quite possibly an exaggeration, but if a games company is making a PC version you would think they would add optimization into there time frame from the start and not delay a game a few weeks before release.

Well, it's worth the try, as they have to try something to make their PC releases more worthy.

"Optimizing" means allowing for controls and in some cases graphics that are more complex than the consoles would allow. For example, I got Prototype and it looks exactly and feels like a console game when I play especially since all the menus look like a D-Pad interface. When I compare it Mass Effect for example, it's PC version's interface is FAR different. So if a game is delayed for PC optimization, you better hope they actually make it worthwhile. Better yet is if companies actually get separate teams for the PC and console versions like Infinity Ward did for COD4.

This sucks, but it's logical if look at it from the developer/publisher's point of view. If Console and PC games would be released at the same time, some people would download it, some would buy it. But if they delay it, the downloaders hopefully won't get anything (;-(), and people who really want it, can buy it for their console.
Now when the pc version is released, the downloaders finally get their game and the few honest gamers without a console are fed up and boycot the game. All in all the developers probably made more money because of the console version.
TBH, I refuse to buy games if they do such things. And they will keep doing such things if people like me refuse to buy it.
confusing

Lets not forget game companies here to make money, not to make people happy, if they knew delaying will be less profitable, trust me they will do whatever they can to release it early ( ex: EA , not a bad thing since EA is a very big company and continuously need to release games to feed itself and its workers )
