As long as it supports BC2 I can't imagine that will be a problem - it looks like it will consume pretty much an identical amount of memory.

Yeah but whatever the player was doing, the gameplay movement looked very woody. Either they scripted this one (which, from the speed of the scope movements, is likely) or this is a dev playing on a console while having no clue about it.

First time seeing a player being a spotter, not a sniper...

But...hmm...the environs are awesome.

New gameplay footage. Check out the knife at 21 seconds.

It looks like hit detection problems are back. Perhaps DICE should include this in the list of "features" in future titles since they seem incapable of getting one of the fundamental aspects of gameplay nailed down.

I guess we shall see for ourselves on Monday.

Note the recurring problem that was also present in BC2 where you would empty half a mag straight into somebody's face and it still doesn't kill them because bullets don't go where you aim and don't do any damage to begin with, then you think "aw fuck it" and knife the guy, and THAT doesn't kill them either, has returned to MoH apparently - the player doing the vid obviously experiences this phenomenon which I've christened "DICE syndrome".

I suspect Monday is going to be a complete laugh riot, but we'll see.

I'd just like to point out, that Bc2s Knife glitch was fixed with the recent patch. I'm just going to assume that DICE messed themselves again with MoH, and it's rearing its ugly head again.

So I downloaded and played the beta for a while. Three games to get the feel.

The good: Gun firing sounds are generally solid, so are the (few) guns you can play at the moment.
Hit detection also appears to be quite good. You also don't need half a magazine per enemy anymore, less bullets appear to be enough. No seriously, this DICE syndrome of yours, if its there its significantly less than in BC2. At least the time required-per-kill is.

The bad: Volume balance. Hit detection sounds are equally as loud as a gun firing. If you die, you won't likely hear where the gunshots came from as the sound of your brain exploding went all over it.
The HUD. Playing a snowy map with a minimal light blue hud sucks. You really have to look for it to see how much ammo you've got left etcetera. Thematic aesthetics won over practicality here.
The gloom! Ugh, the snow is literally piercing your eyes. Yeah sure, it is realistic, but cold damn that is overdoing. I leave this one as some badly formed graphics settings after scanning my system, but this shouldn't be default in any system!
The graphics settings are also incomplete and very confusing. There are a few parameters like detail and effects you appear to be able to edit but when you throw them down the general setting goes up? :S This is probably some testing fix but at the moment it locks you down to using the standard settings from low to advanced.

You also can't go below 1xMSAA at the moment.

Mixed: The map. We play on this snowy mountaincliff side with two(last map in IGN vid), at most three parralel paths with an assault and defence side. There is NO flanking on this map. I hope this isn't going to be staple gameplay as I feel it won't be engaging for long. Its that the map does give you at least a tiny bit of camouflage and encourages a tiny bit of team play (smokes work), but if that wouldn't be there it would have been a shitty defender bloodbath.

Needless to say, on the standard gloom settings discerning the opposing force is nigh impossible.

I am not going to go into detail like you did mate, I will just say that I won't let the beta sully my HD for much longer. I specifically spent several thousand British Pounds on my PC and this is supposed to be what it's used for? :xD: Pllllllllllllllllease! Lacks atmosphere, detail and quality (and unsurprisingly, recoil to).

I have never been so thoroughly bored by an FPS before. I didn't see anything here that hasn't been done before - or that has been executed better than other games. It's like the bare minimum of effort went into the making of Medal of Honor and there is very little that sets it apart from Bad Company 2.

I am curious as to how much time the multiplayer development team was afforded and would estimate that it was less than 8 months.

EA rushed this game because they wanted first blood with a release before Black Ops. I can't see this strategy paying off as they have probably forever tarnished the brand name as a result.

Here's a video that compares the similarities between Medal of Honor and Bad Company 2. It won't take up much of your time, and is well worth a watch - and it may save you money if you are still thinking about purchasing this title.

Played the beta for a while, I have to say I am extremely disappointed at this title. There is simply no depth to it other than point shoot and run around. Guns feels like paintball markers and there is just not much variation you can have in this game.

I know, its not fair to judge a game only by its beta. But if it is head this direction, I would advice you all to stay away from it.

I dare say compared to BC2 this game is a downgrade on many aspects.

One less class, no vehicles, bad maps & uncreative game modes. The sounds are also very one dimensional. BC2 has a unique sound for every gun while in MoH, although the quality is nice, they all sound the same.

I didn't actually try the new beta, the closed one was more than enough to let me know this is a complete waste of time. BUT it is good to hear that they actually decided to make their Hit reg actually work.

In an effort to determine whether I will even try it, I'm looking up some stuff. Everthing still doesn't go where you point like in BC2, all hits are based on 100% luck again, there is no recoil visually or otherwise unless walking at the same time in which case there is a fraction of recoil.

I'm never going to give this a try but out of curiosity I'm trying to figure out if the game uses projectile bullets instead of hitscans as well. If so it will probably be the worst shooter in the history of the universe bar none.

Mind the noobiness, but what's projectile bullets and hitscan exactly?

Quote

As long as the dark foundation of our nature, grim in its all-encompassing egoism, mad in its drive to make that egoism into reality, to devour everything and to define everything by itself, as long as that foundation is visible, as long as this truly original sin exists within us, we have no business here and there is no logical answer to our existence.
Imagine a group of people who are all blind, deaf and slightly demented and suddenly someone in the crowd asks, "What are we to do?"... The only possible answer is, "Look for a cure". Until you are cured, there is nothing you can do.
And since you don't believe you are sick, there can be no cure.

Hitscans are what the name suggest: if you fire, it just scans if there is something where you are pointing at - basically it means bullets are insta-hit. Projectile bullets have a speed which is less than infinity and therefore that enemies can dodge bullets since what you were pointing at may not be there anymore by the time the bullet strikes.

Projectile bullets = Bullets that actually fly to their targets, may or may not be affected by gravity, typical of sniper rifles

Hitscan: Insta-hit aka laser
