Works for: 3ds max, Gmax/RenX
Can Import: Generals Models, BFME2 Models
Cannot Import: Renegade Models

I don't think 3dsmax8 can export W3Ds

You need to add all scripts from the BFME2 Mod SDK first
Then you import the models using Coolfiles W3D importer and export them as Westwood 3D in the normal export menu

not sure what you mean with importing animations, but coolfile's importer works for sure. (You have to redo the materials though)
