^ That's a nice one ^

I have to say I really like the wager matches itself, but the whole system of getting money is riddicolous, since you make about 5 times less money than playing ranked servers. I'd really prefer either a 'elite mode' where you pay 5000 and win up to 15000 (so it's risky but worth it) or no bets at all --> just normal XP for everyone - and just for fun... or both.

Same for contracts: I leveled to 50 and tried exactly 1 contract so far.

And it sucks that they got rid of the 'create-a-class-during-map-load-countdown'. Especially in low levels you actually get something new after nearly every round.

And to say something positive again:

I really like that they modeled the extended and dual mags for every gun (Infinity Ward was too lazy to do it)

EDIT: A few funny kills: (not sure if this has been posted)

I played the PS3 version of this game at my cousins and I have to say it was pretty fun though I did find shotguns and snipers to be absolutely useless. However, the SMGs and LMGs were a little bit more useful than what has been described here. I must say that the aim assist was very strong and pronounced though. This was highly unusual since while playing Halo:Reach, I didn't get the feeling of strong aim assist in multiplayer.

I don't know what black magic Bungie used with Reach, but they seem to have the perfect amount of aim assist in Reach. It exists, yet it doesn't, it's really odd how well it works.

So I finally got around to play the campaign after having 'acquired' this a while back.

First off, the good:
- Music was good
- Atmosphere was pretty good on most levels
- Cutscenes were pretty enjoyable
- I liked the interrogation method of expanding the story
- Plot twist was alright if not completely and utterly predictable

Now, the bad:
- Am I the only one who thought it was a bloody chore when actually playing the game? The level design is absolutely horrendous, they may look pretty good but by God do they play terribly. I didn't have too much fun when actually playing it. The only thing that drove me to finish it is my tendency to be a completist.
- The friendly AI is useless. Sure, if the friendly AI was too good there wouldn't be anything to shoot but at the moment your allies don't know how to pull a trigger and their aim is worse than a Stormtrooper.
- The enemy AI on the other hand, somehow manages to get three shots to your head while blind firing behind a steel crate. That and Treyarch's tendency to make them spawn behind you in an area you already cleared adds to the general annoyance I felt when playing the levels.
- Quite often the objective system was bugged, allies would not follow me and update the triggers so I had to either guess what the next objective was or completely restart the damn level. Seemed to happen an awful lot on the Vietnam missions.
- The backstory as a whole was pretty unimaginative. I mean how many times have we seen rogue Russian general attacks the glorious USA with *insert weapon of mass destruction*.
- Some minor things that were utterly stupid, that while minor really ruin the atmosphere. The Kowloon mission was the prime cause of this, you're interrogating the chemical guy by shattering glass in his mouth, then the next minute you trust him with a damn gun while running behind you. Smart.

IMO, the music can be divided into two groups. The Kowloon rooftops track, which is really great, and every other track, which I found rather bland (and, after WaW, unimaginative).

No, you're not, the exact same applied to me. Really, I don't understand why people like this campaign but not MW2's :read: .

Maybe because the MW2 campaign was easy to get done with in less than 2 hours, provided you don't get killed by the omniscient AI every ten meters? >_>

I'd say the MW2 campaign was longer than the BO one, tbh. The MW2 one took me 8 hours, the BO about six.

Yeah, I think it took me about six hours total. And I'm betting at least an hour of that is cutscenes.

8 HOURS? What the hell were you doing? Sightseeing? :read:
Also, the friends that I asked said the BO campaign is longer and better, I didn't play it yet so I can't judge though...

I'd hardly call it better. That said, MW2's campaign was not the best either. COD4's campaign, on the other hand, is a different story.

Don't bother with the Black Ops campaign unless you want to pull your hair out in frustration at the horrible gameplay. You'd be better off just replaying COD4's campaign.

I'd say the vast amount of cutscenes would be the reason to pull your hair out. You literally spend more time watching than playing. And when you do end up playing, it's as linear as the bloody CGI........

Well, no, but on for example terms of music it beats it by miles.

None of them will ever be close to the CoD 4 campaign though. That one was really epic.

CoD 4's campaign was amazing, but the one part of it that made me want to trash hotel rooms in Vegas was when you had survive the onslaught at the ferris wheel and get to the helicopter.

I thought MW2's campaign was epic as a continuation of an already established story, and much more fun than CoD' 4s - even if it was full of plot holes. The music and set pieces were breathtaking.

I couldn't complete World at War's campaign because of a bug that wouldn't allow me to resume a mission after I exited the game. It forced me to play again from the beginning.

Black Ops' campaign had its moments. I thought the 'Nam sequences were really quite good - that is until you had to man the guns on vehicles. These sequences felt like filler when a level didn't meet the quota of explosions. I think they also demonstrate why controllable vehicles don't work in the game engine, like the tank sequences from WaW. The campaign seemed to meander aimlessly at times as well, but props go to the music production and the way the story was played according to Mason's memory - I thought that was a nice touch.

I made a short video that shows the differences between Modern Warfare 2's and Black Ops' colour palettes. Watch in HD for the best quality:

I think Modern Warfare 2's graphics make a better first impression than Black Ops', TBH.

Cheeky bastard <87 . It's fun how you can see instantly the vid was made on a PC though, with the rapid back-and-forth look movements.

Tbh, to me, the most annoying thing about the voice acting in BO wasn't the larping, it was the studio-esque-ness of the voices. Treyarch pulled the same thing with WaW too. The voices always sound like they're spoken straight into your ear from a foot or so away - the sound doesn't change when the actor doesn't face you anymore or changes direction or if there is some huge noise. It makes it very apparent that the voices are all fake and that they don't really belong to the character (at least to me). Sure, the voices are much clearer this way - but how is that a good thing in this case? Besides, I found Reznov a lot more annoying of a voice actor :xD: .

The graphical thing I found to be the worst in Black Ops were the explosions. I'm not sure if it was my computer, but they looked terrible. It felt like the textures they used for the particles were like 32x32 or something. Same thing with World at War, so I'm more thinking it's Treyarch rather than my computer.

One of the first things I noticed was the decrease in texture quality from Infinity Ward's photorealistic textures to the ones you see in the Santa Maria bar in Black Ops' singleplayer campaign. The skin doesn't look like real skin, at least to me.

People talk about Crysis on PC, but I found Modern Warfare 2 to be the most visually appealing game of the last three years. The PC version was actually an upgrade in the visual department from its console counterparts.

Black Ops does have some nice areas, but it lacks the consistency, thus the immersion, that MW2's singleplayer campaign had.

The only part of Modern Warfare 2's singleplayer I found to be lacking was the background on the oil rig level.

Some interesting tangential news: Activision will apparently never ever charge for any CoD multiplayer:

Well I finally got a chance to try this game for myself since my oldest sister's fiancé got it for PS3, unfortunately he has no headset for it. I mostly played the zombie mode, but I didn't do to well due to the lack of a headset :xD:. I then decided to try multiplayer and was got owned quite a bit because it matched me with people with a much higher skill level then me <87. Overall it was fairly enjoyable in my personal opinion.
