The one where you climb weapons looks particularly interesting. I can't wait to get my hands on that one.

Think about it, though. This could be the next zombie mode, so to speak. Since weapons don't need to be balanced in gametypes like this, I predict Treyarch will fall back to modes like this because their normal gametypes like FFA and DOM will inevitably suffer from huge weapon balance issues. I think they might jump ship on those modes again and focus on stuff like this in BO after a while. I mean, the MP5K alone is hard to justify as a close-combat weapon if it does 30-20 damage 8| .

New perk setup:

tier one perks
lightweight
scavenger
ghost = Cold blooded
flak jacket = Explosion resistant
hardline

tier 2 perks
hardened = Deep impact
scout = Hold Breath
steady aim
sleight of hand
warlord = bling

tier 3 perks
marathon
ninja
hacker = bomb squad
second chance = FAIL
tacticalmask = Flashbang and Gas resistant


This means no stopping power and no juggernaut. I really like this setup. I just hope they increase the damage of sniper-rifles now that SP is gone.

I seem to prefer the different pistol sound, sounds more realistic to me.

That MP5 had an awful awful sound. Rest of the weapons sounded more meaty but that MP5 was just terrible.
First trailer was boring as but that wager match looks like a lot of fun

If they've taken out SP and Juggernaut, I'd really be happy. It's MUCH easier to balance the game well that way, too.

important EDIT: that doesn't mean they DID balance it well though. But if I were given the chance to balance it, not having in SP would be useful.

Good, someone else found the mp5 sound to be bad also... The whole time I was watching the trailer I couldn't stop thinking "wtf is wrong with the mp5" It sounds like a toy that you have as a kid...

More info:

-Black Ops will be tied to Steam and VAC will be the anti-cheat
-Dedicated server files are not going to be publically available - this means you have to rent them from a trusted provider called Gameservers
-There is only one dedicated server provider, which appears to me as if Activision have an exclusive deal with Gameservers

This may not be good news but, for me, as long as admins can kick wallhackers and aimbotters from servers then it doesn't really matter whether the server files are public or not. Treyarch have previously stated that there will be a "Dev Console" so that should give admins some control over who can and cannot join the servers.

We've used Gameservers exclusively now for 3 different servers. Can't complain about them in anyway really. However I doubt they are set up to be able to handle the potential for the demand they will have with this. And that is saying something.

Everything I see about this game makes me die a little inside. From, yes, the Minigun (which is freaking sad for serious FPS game btw), to the pathetic looking loadout screen, to the lack of any recoil and almost laser like hip shooting. I mean attack dogs as a kill streak..... c'mon.

Wow. Every single thing I saw in those vids, I do not want or hate or is flawed or looks or sounds ugly. I was on the point of buying this game after the reveal but now I'm not so sure. Huge complaint post below (shut up Pav :P ).

-no visibly noticeable recoil or idling
-looks and especially sounds shit
-VAC = trillions of hackers
-all explosives still in there, thumper still secondary it seems, noobtubing still not only too easy but also too profitable
-damageviewkick
-extreme lag kills observed and no lag compensation seen so far
-frag damage identical to WaW and MW2 = maximum fail
-tac insertions = boosters everywhere again
-shotguns primaries but utterly useless
-every weapon in the game uses the same iron sight (the MW2 FAMAS one which also happens to be one of the ugliest in history)
-pro perks
-SoH pro decreases transintime = quickscopers
-what's the point of a masterkey attachment if you can use a noobtube, or what is the point of a shotgun primary if the masterkey isn't useless? There is no way all of them can be balanced and useful at the same time by definition
-care package still in
-ATTACK DOGS GODDAMMIT DIE IN HELL WITH A TUMOR UP THE ARSE
-chopper gunner is now a 9-streak (Oo?)
-attack dogs
-IT RUNS THROUGH STEAM GODDAMMIT HELL & TUMOR ETC.
-did I mention even LMGs have less recoil than an ACR?
-no but seriously, my airsoft MP5 sounds a trillion times better than this thing

Also, it DOES matter if the files are public or not. That's how they did the game corrupt hack in MW2 after all, but it looks like they can do the exact same thing here again.

^ these suck in a serious way imo. I know you hate dvk with a passion mate (and steam and lucky tubers ofc :P) but the visual/audible experience so far is soo far below par wtf would you buy this when it has nearly everything in it that MW2 does with no obvious improvements???

Good luck to you. However, some of us quite like a little realism in our games, so that we can have fun. But far more importantly, we like quality, which this game appears to lack in spades, based on current footage.

any specifics? i am extremely set on quality myself (almost obsessively in fact) and quite honestly i'm having a hard time seeing these "massive lacks" of it.

then again, it's actually only a trailer and it's generally hard to deduce any actual feel of the game when you have only 12-minutes or so to LOOK at.

The whole point of a trailer is that you're supposed to advertise your product by showing its good sides. If that's the best they can show, you could draw some quite reliable conclusions from that, methinks.

As for quality, obviously weapon models, looks, effects, animations and sounds are deeply below par. On top of that, they didn't fix anything that was wrong with the gameplay of MW2 itself it seems and they seemed to have messed up a few things that were good to begin with too. What on Earth have they shown us that you'd get this game over MW2 for? As MW2 so eloquently put it, Same Shit, Different Day.

Addin' some info that I heard. (not 100% sure though)

Steam requirement sucks. That means no LAN at school for me -.-
But if they have servers instead of matchmaking that shouldn't be a real problem

If you look at the footage, you'll see the guy is an immense noob and if you hear what he says about previous CoD games, it's obvious he has no idea what he's talking about. He even says the people he played against are very stupid, and he still managed a negative KD, and it's not even an objective game type! Of course the best way to judge recoil is to feel it yourself, but just look at the vids and point out any moment where you see recoil or idling. I sure as hell can't...

It being an 11-streak is no excuse for dogs at all. It being a million streak wouldn't be an excuse at all. It just shouldn't be in the game. Remember in WaW where the dogs would survive knife attacks, sniper shots, automatic fire etc. and respawn infinitely? I don't want that anywhere near my games.

The CG from MW2 is quite often fully stationary and has an automatic AoE weapon as well. The Spec Ops one wasn't exactly a lightweight piece of hardware :P . I guess it could be balanced right though. Got a source or vid or something? That would help some.

Well, Steam is incredibly unreliable and has a tendency to fail, drop out and kick everyone from all games - it in fact does this regularly as well with scheduled updates roughly every week. Having this happen so often right in the middle of a game tends to anger me. Also, you can't uncouple a game from Steam to make it actually not paint posters all over town that you're playing game X for example.
