*Blames the referee*
Seriously though, I don't think it was too bad a decision for klose to be sent off...
The second yellow was a bit harsh but he was asking for the first one.

I am glad Germany lost
Puts their overzealous fans in their place. But the Germans did resort to a lot of roughhousing, so I can't say the referee is to blame. Plus they missed the penalty shot among other things.
And let's see what happens to England tonight.

It's a good match, though. Both sides are not slacking off, it's a real match to the death. Just hope neither side makes anymore goals now, though, go 2-1

Fun fact: on the BBC it was announced that the US is apparently the best-supported country in this WC, according to the sales officials. I mean seriously, WAT?

You're watching the Beeb? But that doesn't surprise me much, there's just so many of the damn Yanks to go!
The match is very, very good, though. Slovenia to score again though, which I think would be rather neat for us. Especially if Germany don't come through on top in their group, then I would be MORE than happy to avoid them in the last 16 by coming second ourselves.

More tickets were sold to the USA, because of the money sports fans will pay I'm assuming.
I'm not talking about "soccer" fans, there aren't too many of them, but a lot of sports enthusiasts will cheer on USA whatever the sport.
In 2002 apparently there were a record number of Americans tuning in at early hours of the morning to watch the USA play in Korea/Japan from their TVs.

I'm just surprised that it's broadcast out there, especially with all the rights to the games in territories being rather nit-picking

You not going to get dumped out by Portugal before then? But yeah, it's possible that winning this group would be a bad idea, Germany would not be a team I would look forward to facing in the last 16.

They're a country with what, 260 million inhabitants? It surely means that soccer is on a high in the States.
Fun fact, as the dutch commentator stated, Slovenia is the smallest country by both surface and population (2 million) to participate in the world cup, while the US is the largest on both criteria.
Slovenia leads.

Sadly, not true anymore. Great goal though, and great control over the goal when it's bouncing up. Hell, UK could end up on the top of the group by the end of the night it seems.

USA score again, however the myopic referee turns it down. This guy, who also saw a normal header as hands to yellow another American, is a serious liability to the USA here.

I'm good with it tbh. Paves the way nicely for the England game later. Shame the refs today have been a let-down, they've been really good this tournament so far.

Extremely bad reffing there. Just painful to see that man at work.
@ John: nah, football is a very impopular sport in the US.

Allright oh well looks like the American goal was illegitimate due to a foul, not offside. Very well then.
England shouldn't need to look at others to make it. They need to win their next two games and thank the rest.
@AJ; what I meant that with 260 million inhabitants its easy find 10 million interested in the game, and easy to get the most supporters on the World Cup. I didn't say it was popular, I said it was getting more popular.

My 'not true' statement was regards Slovenia leading, which I crossed out

Americans are still in love with their 'football' which has bugger all to do with real football, but at least they are getting in on the act a little more.

Hmm. Just did some thinking.
Ghana beat Serbia 1-0.
Germany beat Australia 4-0.
Serbia beat Germany 1-0.
Therefore logic dictates Ghana should beat Australia 8-0.

England just fucking suck, honestly.. Maybe its time for people to realise we don't have potential and that we are just rubbish.
I also hated that little Algerian git, Lacen. Anytime someone so much as scraped him, down he went. Why the fuck can't footballers play properly? Instead of diving and going down at the lighest touch. They should play on tarmack, bet they wouldn't be so happy diving then..

The English opening play wasn't bad at all and looked quite good. It deteriorated quite quickly though, with incredible ball loss and many missed chances due to bad passes. That 4-3 situation should've been a goal, simple as that.
