I got a feeling Kinect will blow Nintendo's Wii out of the water...

Seeing as to how Kinect is merely an Xbox addon without any accessories (controller-wise) and Wii is a full fledged console...

And seeing how Kinect is somehow the exact same age as the Wii, right? :xD:

Considering Microsoft took 4 years to do what the Wii did, I think the Wii seems to be in a far better position for the moment. Nintendo will come out with a new flagship console in a year and Kinect will be obselete 3 months after release...

If Nintendo is among us with a new motion based console within a year then why didn't we see anything off that this E3. They better have something good and if they have it release ready next year why not use it now to put down excitement for Kinect.

Eh ???

Completely different.

I agree that if Nintendo responds fast it could break Kinect but on the other hand it could take some time while Kinect could completely destroy the Wii, a game console only alive because it rehashes its classics. Except for those few games there is nil reason at the moment to buy a Wii.

It's still motion control, even if it is different.

The Wii has a massive established market. It's just like iPods for MP3 players and iPhones for smartphones. Some may be better, but because there's such a huge established market the competitors get uneven support.

If working as advertised Kinect is so superior to the Wii in every way, that I am sure a proper marketing campaign will destroy Wii sales. Comparison to Apple phones is flawed. People bought the Wii because they like what it did, not because of the brand.

Unless Nintendo hypothetically has a new console in the works that will make Kinect 'obsolete' they really don't have much besides game rehashes to sell the Wii with.

Kinect is controller free control, which is immensely different to the Wii. However, i can see how it seems to be like that so far, mainly because Mircosoft seems to have shoveled out a lot of Wii game clones. I do think that once the Kinect settles down, we will start to see games utilizing the power of the device. Stuff like ducking while playing Gears would cause you character to duck (more inspired examples needed :xD:) could really add a new depth to gaming, something the Wii just doesn't do.

Overall the Kinect has the potential to be so much more than the Wii, and it definitely isn't just another motion control device that should be pushed to the side and labeled Mircosoft Wii M2.

Did nobody notice that the entire Kinect presentation was staged?

Almost everything on the E3 was staged, even the awful cringeworthy jokes of that horrible Ubisoft MC. Big news.

Doesn't change the product. Not to mention I thought Microsofts Cirque du Soleil convention is a whole lot more interesting than what Activision did. ''Hey, we have no original ideas left, lets just pay a lot of expensive artists and prevent anyone outside of the convention to see the fail we produce''. God that was like a republican ad video. Conservative 'hardcore gamers' who can't stand anything but sequels of their awesome games, killing off much of the creativity on the E3. Anyhow if gametrailers prefers to see Activisions milk pollution and Nintendo's cry for attention (though a compliment on the 3DS) by merely remaking games above new stuff, Well then so be it.

naturally the above presenter was quite adept in swallowing that secrecy notice of the Activision convention.

I could pretty much reverse that #2 on the fail campaign with the #3 on the ''win'' campaign.

i think my skull collapsed.

that was absolutely cringe-worthy.

on the kinect matter: i am still to be surprised. they really haven't shown anything yet that makes me think: "whoah, that's actually pretty cool". don't get me wrong, i love the tech, it's capabilities and it's potential but right now there's no reason why i'd be interested in actually buying/using it. there's simply nothing to see...
