If you do go the medium/heavy/arty route, the M3 Lee is a bit of a pain to grind through. In all honesty, I suggest going US medium, as grinding 13k exp in the Lee is a chore. 26k exp is insanity.

I liked lolhetzer

But seriously, Hetzer is one of the worst tanks in German tree, luckily i got 50% needed exp for Stug III from free exp, so my sanity is somewhat still inside of me.

I'm currently on the T2, but will move to the M2 once I exchange my excess XP on it for free XP. I also went with the Soviet tech tree for my TD's and the German tech tree for my Arty.

Ugh.......Diastant.......really starting to get on my nerves. His article is riddled with grammatical errors and falsehoods, I think he needs to read his history a bit better. For one thing, those two tanks on the back of the IS-3 are NOT fuel tanks. The Russians were experimenting with smoke screens and those tanks are for that purpose. The reason the IS-3 was called "the Pike", wasn't because of the entire hull, it was because of the FRONT of the tank, being shaped like a spear point (the IS-7 also has this feature). Ugh..........still, Diastant is the only one writing "reviews" on tanks........for now.
There are no 500 gold handouts mate. It's been 250g since the start of the open beta.

Still gotta wait for a week before I can get month-long premium, but I'm not sure if it's worth it since I have no idea when it launches, but surely they'll give at least 1 month of open beta before release.

At least, I hope it's not released any time soon....

I skipped the M3 Lee because it was a massive turd. The Sherman on the other hand is incredible. I decided not to go beyond the Sherman because the Easy eight doesn't get the 100mm cannon. US tree is a little sad at the moment, Mediums are great but the end of the line Pershing isn't (In fact, many end-of-the-line tanks are crap and are expensive, only the T-54 is incredible, IS-7, Maus, Panther II, Pershing, are all kinda crap).
Soviets basically dominate everything except TDs. Plus there's a lot of cross teching. Soviet Mediums for example goes straight into the TD line at the point where it's best. A great Med (T-34) goes into a great TD (Su-85), both of those guys go into good tanks as well (T-34-85 and Su-100).

Soviet TDs are really mixed, they are all thin-skined, some aren't fast, some aren't stealthy, and some don't have good guns, but some are all three. AT-1 is probably the most broken tank in the game, you can earn mad-cash and xp with that thing. (The first battle I had with that thing I got 6 kills). The few after that are complete and utter crap, they are brittle, the guns suck and some don't even transfer to the next tank. I went from T-34 straight into the good bits of the TD line. The Su-85 is a fast little bugger that can do decent damage and is has great stealth. The Su-100 is the best Soviet TD; it's all-round better than the Su-85 and has a great gun, great maneuverability, and is practically invisible. I use it as my money-making TD atm. The Su-152, and ISU-152 aren't that great; they are slow, brittle and aren't that accurate. But when you hit people, they will know (if they survive). I hear the top ISU-152 gun is fantastic and not only that, transfers to the Object 704, which I hear is really amazing. It has the power to one-shot every single tank I have, except my PII and IS-3. (Even then, I've been one-shotted in them because the bastard hit my ammo).
German TDs are all good except for Hezter (I hear JadgTiger is poo, and Ferdi is a massive change of style from the JadgPanther). Marder II and Stug are hilariously good money and xp makers and are mad-fun. Arty is a mixed bag but the Hummel and GW Panther (got both) are amazing, while the Grille was a stinking turd. However, German have the new moon cannon, as the GW Tiger can get the highest damaging gun in the game, a colossal 2000 damage gun. The general trend is that the German Arty gets better and better, while the German TDs are pretty much awesome all the way till you get to the last one.
Dunno about the German main branch, I hear the 3601 is a nice Heavy-medium, and that Tiger and Tiger II are both nice. Maus is shit while Aufs B is great if played right. The light branch the Leo is a great scout but you frequently get tossed into tier 7-9 matches where you can't damage anything, so that tank is reserved for the experienced scout. If you actually want to kill something with light tanks, the Luchs is a great choice, and the Pz III is decent fun. The Medium branch is a rugged terrain with massive mountains and deep valleys. The III/IV is decent, the 3001(P) is my most hated tank ever, the 3002(DB) is the best medium I have and is incredible and the Panther isn't bad, a decent sniper. The Panther II is probably the most mixed; it's turns to slow to be a proper medium, and doesn't have the firepower or slope to be a heavy-medium. It has nice speed and accurate guns so it's pretty much exclusively sniper, but it just takes forever for it to get the proper guns, treads, and turret for the job, plus it's not that stealthy.

NergiZed, the gun you're referring to is the BL-10. 152mm, 4 rounds a minute, with an accuracy of .36. Damage is 750 for both AP and APCR rounds, while that jumps up to 950 for HE rounds. Penetration for AP rounds is 286mm, which bests the Jadgtiger's top cannon by 10mm +/- . However, as great as the BL-10 is, it's prone to being rather reluctant to sniper duty as players have been experiencing odd tendencies with the gun. One of such oddities is that it can be absurdly inaccurate from game to game, and this isn't an admirable trait, given that each round is expensive.
In my experience, the SU-100 wasn't that great, even with the D-10 100mm. The SU-85 at least gets the 107mm, which, if I remember right, has the same RoF and does 60 more damage. I think the only thing the D-10 has over the 107 is accuracy. Soviet TD's are a different playstyle over the German TD's though, as the Russians used their TD's as assault guns (this explains the silly speed). Actually, one of the best TD's I've used so far has been the SU-152 with the stock ML-20M cannon. None of its guns have outstanding accuracy, but to be really honest, the SU-152 was meant for assault, not for camping/sniper duty.
The StuG III is a silly little money maker, given that its available L/70 75mm fires at a little over 17 rounds a minute and is very accurate (I've nailed tanks repeatedly over 500 meters). It turns quick, hides easily, and is quite speedy (though 40kph doesn't make it the fastest thing on treads). The only thing "wrong" with the StuG is its apparent lack of health. 350hp doesn't allow for many hits, and nor does its thin sides and rear. Those points are of little matter though, because the StuG can hang back out of harm's way and still provide effective fire support.
The Jadgpanzer IV has only one real advantage over the StuG: it can't be one shot from higher tier'd guns (well, only if ammo racked). Outside of that, the 8,8cm that it offers doesn't function too much better than the L/70. It hits harder, but it fires slower and doesn't have as much penetration as the 7,5cm. Play style doesn't really change, as the Jadgpanzer is still really low profile and benefits greatly from a camo net.
The German "main" line doesn't have too many outstanding tanks, however the ones NergiZed noted are good candidates to shoot for. The VK3601(H) is a good tank for its tier, capable of mounting both the L/70 75mm from the Panther, and the KwK 36 L/56 8,8cm found on the Tiger I. It has decent front armour, and the rear can be a bit hard to penetrate, given that it has a reversed slope. The VK36 does not turn too well, even when upgraded and a competent crew, but with the 750hp motor, it will get to its 40kph top speed in a hurry.
The Tiger I is a different play style and is better suited for defence. The L/56 and L/70 do carry over, however, given the Tiger I's tier (tier 7), they can be frustrating, as the L/70 has better penetration, but little damage, and the L/56 has the damage, but less penetration. The Tiger is also more frustrating to use because until you get the upgraded tracks, turning seems to take forever. The motors and radio from the VK36 also carry over, so make sure that you've either saved up enough credits to buy them again, or, if you've sold your VK36, that you've taken them off so that you don't have to buy them again. Because the Tiger doesn't have sloped armour, bouncing shots will not happen as often, but if you angle yourself towards the enemy, you may get lucky. The Tiger really comes into its own when you get the final motor and the L/71. The final motor, at 870hp may not move you any faster than the 30kph top speed, but it will turn and accelerate the tank with some authority. The L/71 also comes in handy when facing higher tier'd enemies. At 203mm penetration, you'll be able to smack around King Tigers and IS-3's. The only downside is that the L/71 does not do any more damage than the L/56 (both do 220 damage).

The T34 is a tier 9 tank, though, in all honesty, it doesn't start to perform well until the 120mm is unlocked and purchased, and since the turret is as large as the T29's, it serves as a much larger target to shoot at.
