From Kotaku

The thought the track was really awesome, but the best bit is that videos games are working there way into more mainstream awards.

Sorry, I really don't want games to become mainstream. We all know what happens to them when they have to appeal to everyone. :stickattack:

All I see is a waste of time, I didn't realise C&C4 got classed as a video game?

Note: I agree with Wiz, the whole point of games is they're not too mainstream. Plus, awards do well staying apart - I wouldn't want Dreamworks winning Best Studio award at the Spike VGAs...

Note2: I wouldn't exactly hold one's breath over this either, it's a tiny little award (the Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists) and the game is Civ4 - which is six years old. If that holds true I'll be almost 30 by the time Mass Effect 2 gets plaudits for its work.

Black Ops is not mainstream. Everybody's jumping ship on it because it's too boring and lame. MW2 has seen a major resurgence over the time of BO's release.

There are bad points with an industry going mainstream but there are also good ones too. The main one is that there is more choice, which kinda defeats the idea that games are becoming bad when there are so many new games made by so many different devs around the corner.

Basically mainstream is good, you just have to avoid the cash hungry devs.

Tbh I wouldn't say that C&C4 was more mainstream. RTS will never be as mainstream as FPS or sports games. It was just a catastrophic failure of a game.

And tbh, I don't think this is any form of news about games going mainstream (come on consoles = mainstream gaming anyway). It's more the recognition that good music isn't limited to original production or movies.
