Humanity is far more likely to destroy itself than an asteroid.

Considering a 400m large asteroid at 70.000km/h is passing by the Earth less than 100.000km early next November, I begin to doubt that.

Already been ruled out, and more like 300,000 kilometres away.

Not going to happen.

For sure they can't hide it when it is visible to the naked eye, but before that, they can :P

And if they wanted to do that, why would they remove a large chunk of the sky from google earth, leaving only a large black rectangle, when any idiot could just photoshop out a small dot on a black background? |:

Why they black out it in first place is a question to be asked first I think :P

The US govornment and their companies and subdivisions hide a lot of things from their people and from the rest of the planet. Better not to get too wrapped up in trying to uncover their mysteries, chances the general public may never even find out some of the things they hide. The US are most definitelty not the only govornment that hide things from the public.

I use google sky for some time now and this is the only black out I've seen. And it is obvious picture is complete but they add blackout on it, look at half stars near it, most notably below.

How is it 'obvious' that they blacked that area out?

It's made up of loads of different pictures. I think it's pretty safe to assume that they just don't have pictures for that area for whatever reason (e.g. never taken / not high enough resolution). Whatever the reason, I'm sure it's pretty boring.

The point is, if they were trying to cover this up, they wouldn't leave such a huge 'clue' behind.

Not even taking into account countermeasures that we would use against asteroids threatening Earth, the possibility is infinitesimal.
