Funny thing is the factory toyota one on mine isnt water tight either as i found out, is now but they are more or less a dust snorkel Chyroast because of some thing called bulldust

But your snorkel faces FORWARDS, what's the goddamn point of having a dust snorkel if it faces in the direction you're likely to be travelling the most in?! D:

My guess is that it's an air intake for when the lower intakes get clogged from the dust that is kicked up from the wheels.

Things got a bit Serbian when I found out my mother's last name was Stanković before she was adopted.

Yeah i dunno about you but i'd rather it be facing forwards seeing as that dust its getting kicked straight up behind the wheels.... And the frond of the vehicle!
