Funny thing is the factory toyota one on mine isnt water tight either as i found out, is now but they are more or less a dust snorkel Chyroast because of some thing called bulldust

My guess is that it's an air intake for when the lower intakes get clogged from the dust that is kicked up from the wheels.

Yeah i dunno about you but i'd rather it be facing forwards seeing as that dust its getting kicked straight up behind the wheels.... And the frond of the vehicle!
