So was just riding home, down a hill... quite fast... and went 'round a blind corner, to find a car turning in. Slammed on my brakes, and slid out. This is the result:

(note: contains blood)
Spoiler

I don't even know how I managed that... I slid out on my left hand side, and yet that's my right arm. I've also hurt my (right) thumb pretty badly... can't really use it or bend it at the moment. My upper arm is also starting to ache quite a bit... Oh and, I have a new cut on my left knee, the knee that I already have 4 scars on. 8|

Anyways, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later... This is my first accident on the roads, other than a slipped peddle, and considering I have been riding on the roads for at least 12 years, I think that's pretty good going. :O

Ouch, that looks like it's going to be a scar D:.

On a sidenote: I've been going 18 years without an accident :P (But then again, I don't live in Guernsey)

Maybe its time to buy some slicks. They are far more fun and you might even die in the rain. :P

Oo

I've cycled since I was three or so and I've only ever had one accident - and it didn't even involve other traffic D: .

Hopefully it won't... it's not that deep, probably won't take that long to heal.

Hehe... Really glad I had to replace my back tyre with my old dirt tyre the other day. Probably would have turned out much worse with a street tyre on the back. Also glad my brake didn't snap; They may be bloody squeaky, but they served me proud today. 8|

My thumb's started to swell up and bruise nicely. Thankfully my good friend the ice pack has taken most of the pain away. 8|

Oh... and I also found another cut on my hip when I went to sit down before. Tomorrow sure is gonna be fun. :xD:

Doesn't matter, my dad and uncle have both broken their collarbones in bike accidents under 20 mph, and they're both very experienced cyclists. 8|
On top of that, 90% of all cycling fatalities are with cyclists that are not wearing a helmet... it never hurts to be cautious! 8|

I guess it depends where you live. I live in the flattest piece of land on earth and there are no hazards of any kind anywhere, and the whole country is made for cycling, while you live under twenty metres of snow in the wilderness :xD: .

You've never run into the bus drivers in my city I assume? I wouldn't be surprised if those bastards of Arriva keep a count of how many bicyclists they have hit during their career <87
EDIT: Arriva, not Veolia. Veolia bus drivers are awesome 8|

I don't know how they do it in Dordrecht but in Utrecht you can basically cycle on bus lanes without getting into trouble. Even against traffic flow 8| .

It's not the typical red-eye effect. My eyes glowed because there was a very bright yellow-orange light nearby, not from the camera's flashlight. In fact my eyes actually glowed, not just on the photo...according to the guy taking the photo.

My hand is pretty bruised now, but this is very much an improvement on what it looked like yesterday:

Posted Image

My thumb had swollen to twice the size of my other thumb it was bright purple / blue and I couldn't bend it. Thankfully, after having an ice pack on it all last night, the swelling has gone right down to the point where it's nearly the same size as my other thumb, and a lot of the bruising has gone, but most importantly, I can bend it and use my right hand without being in a lot of pain (as long as I'm not lifting heavy objects).

Just a shame every other part of my body is really sore now, otherwise I'd be feeling much better. :tard:

EDIT: You can also see an annoying little blood blister on my little finger, that hurts every now and again when I type with it. :P
