Good luck with that. iOS and Android already lag a bit when you take a single screenshot on them, I can't imagine 24 screenies per sec :o
Well, I went through some other folks' proposals, and I must say it makes more sense than overclocking a smartphone processor :xD:

My LG P500 is overclocked from 650Mhz to 850 (if I recall the numbers correctly)
That's what makes it superior to an iPhone 3 yet still cost 150€ :3

Which still doesn't solve the problem that Android has – it has so few good apps that it isn't worthwhile using the platform. The whole point of a smartphone is applications.

I never said they didn't exist, I said they were bad.

Android apps are on average several orders of magnitude lower quality than iOS apps. The designers and developers who know what they are doing all congregate and will initially develop on iOS because the platform is far more friendly for developers. Most of the higher-quality Android apps are made months after the iOS app is made, case in point Flipboard.

It's the same reason why third-party apps on OSX are, on average, of a higher standard as well.

lolwat.

It is most definitely not more friendly for developers.

People primarily develop for iOS because "everyone has an iPhone / iPad" and I guess another reason is there are far less versions / screen sizes to design for, so in that sense it's easier.

People primarily develop for iOS because "everyone has an iPhone / iPad" and I guess another reason is there are far less versions / screen sizes to design for, so in that sense it's easier.
In terms of development, Objective C might not be the best language in the world, but it's a whole lot better than Java.

In terms of design – having to deal with only two aspect ratios as well as only a specific set of devices makes everything a whole lot easier.

At one of my previous jobs I did design and a small amount of development for a multi-platform app. Android was easily the biggest pain in the arse to work with, not just because of Eclipse but because we needed to have about 9 different Android test phones and each of them had specific bugs relating not just to the platform itself, but the version and even a couple were only present on a certain brand.

That brings up the issue of fragmentation – with iOS around 90% of the ecosystem uses the same version and within a month or two most of the user base migrates to the latest version. With Android the vast majority still uses 2.x. Then of course there's the issue of vastly different hardware, from different resolutions to vastly different processing power.

The principles behind Android are nice, but they just don't work in a commercial world.
